I think this will be an epic ride. So far I am riding with Steve Mckeller and any other guys that enjoy long moderate pace rides. This is an AMA District 37 event It is the longest and world famouse trail ride will start in Palmdale, California. The all desert format will include Red Rock Canyon State Park, The Mojave Preserve and more. Be a part of the tradition and make plans now for L.A.-B.-Vegas the must do event of the year! B Approximately 475 miles. For more info and to download entry blank, log on to (WWW.DISTRICT37AMA.ORG)

I really want to do this ride but we have a family desert Thanksgiving tradition. Wish it was on a different weekend, it looks like a blast!

Ya CRAP ! I don't think there is any way to get out of the thanksgiving family thing. I would love to try to keep up with ya'll up there, but I don't want to hold anyone up. I'm slowing down a little in my old age. Maybe I can chase you on the first leg of this thing and then head to thanksgiving straight from barstow. That would make it a round trip epic for me if I can do it. It will be SD-LA-BARSTOW-BISHOP-SD. hmmmm, sounds makeable. Also I have a 2nd loop option: SD-BISHOP-BARSTOW-VEGAS-SD. even better !

I've done this ride before and may do it again this year.....undecided, it's a logistical hassle

Be advised that it's not a balls out ride in some sections because of BLM speed restrictions to protect desert tortose (not that I've ever seen one on ANY ride  ).....need to respect those speed restrictions or D37 won't be able to pull permits for future ride.....they barely pulled it off this year....

Logistical hassle (drive truck to Barsoww, ride to Palmdale. Then Palmdale-Barstow-Vegas.Wife flys to vegas. Rent a car party in Vegas. Ride pavment to Barstow, load bike in race van head home.Plan 2 ride to Palmdale. Wife drives race van to Vegas.Plan 3 ride to Palmdale, wife flys to Vegas, rent U Haul truck to get home. Speed limits suck but we can ride even faster were there are no limits. NOT BORED :P

Hammer Head - Listen Man, trust me......you really DO NOT want to ride home immediately after the LA-B-V ride.....1) you'll likely be feeling a bit worked over after two long days in the saddle 2) It's Thanksgiving weekend.....the 15 FWY out of Vegas is a HORROR SHOW the Sunday after Thanksgiving!

Last time I did it I flipped a guy from the D37 list a few $$ to trailer my bike/gear bag back to the L.A. area.....I flew home to San Diego and picked it up in Smell-A a few days later.....if you're serious about riding back, dirt or street, I'd suggest taking Sunday/Monday off and goofing around in Vegas to let the madness pass before begining your return trip.....

Also, you need to book your rooms in Barstow/Vegas.....SOON

Logistics are set. Steve came by and we had a lot to LOL. about. Steve is who I rode to the Baja 500 with, We are going to be droped off by my wife in Palmdale. Then we will ride to Barstow to stay in a hotel. Then to Vegas were we will meet my wife and stay at her parents house. Her parents are realy cool, they will wine and dine us 24 7 and show us the town. They also have a car for us to drive. I have been to there house before for Thanksgiving I left at 3am. (no traffic)got home very early Monday morning. PARTY ON. :rolleyes:Thanks Crawdad for helping us with ideas I always plan to ride to much. I seem to forget how old I am now. If I rode from S.D. to Palmdale I wouldnt be able to party it up in Vegas.

Last weekend it was so hot I decided not to ride Amago before the UB40 pool party at Pala. Instead I surfed and I was glad I didnt ride. The band rocked. We were on our feet during the whole concert danceing. Then to the casino til 1am. I would have never made it if I would have rode M.X. before this event.

Hi Craig, I was wondering about this ride, is it all offroad? or mostly?

~80/20 (dirt/street)......and lot's of fire roads since there are so many miles to cover.....but still very scenic/fun.......good commeraderie since this is the largest/longest event put on by D37.

Now that I am no longer allowed to ride Fst. or write the word, I think I will ride from San Diego to Palmdale to Barstow to Vegas to San Diego. If I cant ride Fst. at least we could ride long. Any learkers want to join me on this epic MODERATE pace ride. You dont have to do it all, but are welcome to join us on any of the legs. No one will be left behind. ;)Not on the trail or in the water or enywhere for that matter. Craig.

Craig, I have done this ride about 8 times. I usually ride from SD and ride back from Vegas. I know of a great dirt route from Vegas back to SD. If you are interested in the route let me know-You will need a hugh gas tank as fuel is scarce on this route(200 mile range). I will be riding Arizona this coming Turkey Day or else I would join you!
