gpskevin 0 Posted January 21, 2013 Anyone from Southern California area interested in joining me for the Railways Trails Ride? Details of the ride are here: BC Railways Adventure 2013 I am thinking we can get a group together and maybe ride to the start of the ride together or share cost to haul our bikes up north? Who is interested?
SteelRain 0 Posted January 21, 2013 Yes wanted to do this for a while. I also have a line on a logistics specialist who is very bike oriented... actual he does "odd" and high value loads only.
danrider 5 Posted January 21, 2013 That is cool and i am lurking on this. He said that he will only take 10 riders so, I cannot lurk to long. Will let you know in a couple of days. And I should have my adventure bike by then.

Jim 0 Posted January 22, 2013 I did the first two days (the route only) of this ride in the summer of 2011 by myself on the WR250R. It was some one of the most striking and awesome rides I've ever done. When I was a little north of Harrison Lake (day 2 of this ride), it was the most alone and isolated I've ever felt in my life!! No kidding. So deep into the woods, with hardly nobody around. There is so much water flowing up there in the mountains. What they consider a creek is a raging river to us. Awesome ride that I would encourage any of you to participate in. If the other parts are as good as what he has planned for the first two days, it will be epic. These guys did part of Kettle Valley Railroad on their way to AK.
gpskevin 0 Posted January 31, 2013 Wow, thanks for all the nice comments, I see I know some of you and some have been on my rides. I am retired now and so I am able to spend even more time riding. My dream has come true, just get to ride for life. I am very excited about this ride, Canada is so beautiful and has incredible remote places. It is hard for me to believe that it is just open for us to ride. Although some of the Railways have become closed to motor vehicles, the best railways are still open. That may not be for long, but we are use to stuff getting closed here in California. Riders should be aware that I recommend you bring "Bear Spray". Canada is full of wild animals, Last time I saw too many to count, and we even got to chase a cub up a tree. The mother just sat about 100 yards away This ride is best for bigger bikes that can carry all the camping gear, but I know there are some of you clever folks that know how to load a small bike. gpskevin 0 Posted February 18, 2013 Best Bikes for the ride: I was asked what bike would be good for this ride, the answer is a lot of bikes, this is not a rough ride but rather a scenic ride: Vstroms are good, but remember you have to carry camping gear Many BMWs work well Kawasaki Versys can work well and of course the KLR650 is great The KTMs can be great, but if you use a small bike you will need to carry all your gear. There are too many good bikes to list, and people can be amazing sometimes. Remember you might see rain, so be prepaired: I will be riding my Super Tenere Side Note: Some may even make a 250 work well: Anyway get your bike ready and join us.
