  1. Hey, I have seen a few hints about you owning a DR, like your old one?  have you posted pics?  If not, send me one or post one so I can be more jealous  - haha.   Hope all is well. John

Thanks.  If you can, document what you are doing so I can follow suit someday, unless......  I just go big with a f800, or go with the KTM 530, or simply keep riding my drz, as it did great on the BDR, but packing the drz for overnights is just a little too much for the drz to have comfortable fun.  Send a pic my way sometime. All the best!

Thanks Bob, I chuckled when I recently saw a reference to a new packing system, so I assumed you were getting a pannier system, but wasn't that for the smaller Husky?  or are you outfitting your big bike for camping this time (Tiger?).  Try to get to Hatch Utah, not too far away, as you can enter beautiful jeep roads to the west of Bryce Canyon, and west to the ski resort (cooler temps). See ya on the rails some time soon.  Cheers.

  4. Hey Mikey, great stuff on the 5150 write up, thanks!   I don't want to derail the flow so I thought I would send you a message instead of posting on the thread.  Can you share with me the distance that you were at when you were unable to make radio communication? although you guys were apart, it certainly seemed that you could have still been in radio contact with each other since that is one of the purposes of group radio riding... were all of you on similar radios?

I will be riding some BDR Colorado in a few weeks and I was wondering about how far apart you were that you guys couldn't reach each others radios (Rugged RH-5R radios, 5 watt?).   I might restrict my co-riders to stop for others earlier if the range really isn't very far. You know....  with super dust, a group of 4 can get quite spread. Thanks again.  John

Thanks, I bought one today during one of those 2 hr. discount sales. It is actually my second one even though I havent used the first one yet as I wanted my gal to have one. I also did it so I could use the helmet kits from both in both of my helmets, dirt and road. And she could use the other radio in the truck or when we long distance hike.  Bummer to hear that it didn't work well as my earlier research and a few threads on SDAR make reference to it being a good set-up and able ito transmit a couple miles clearly. Please send info my way as you discover the hows and whys to your limited distance issue.  Glad you guys had a wild, yet safe outing, way to go.  All the best. John

  5. Good morning, John here. Just wondering if you ever hang in the san diego area and ever invite folks (or individuals) to cross paths with you in person to either purchase your product or teach them how to best use it (GPS and computer connectedness).  My first bribe - need a brew or a burger?  haha. If not, maybe you know a few of the SDAR folks that wouldn't mind guiding a newbie. Cheers.

OK, thanks, I guess you are getting ready for the hot season. If you ever have any interest in showing a newbie things to consider, please let me know. I would buy the product, install on a macbook air, merge with Garmn Base Camp I think, and use on a Gpsmap 78 hand held unit.  All the best.  John
