slagnado 0 Posted May 6, 2010 Hi, I would like to get a GPS that works with an Apple computer. I don't really understand about loading tracks, etc. and don't really know what to look for when I started looking at them. I am a visual person so the most user friendly one is desired. Thanks in advance, mucho appreciated!

Thanks in advance, mucho appreciated! I uise the Garmin HCx 530 (Rhino) on my Bikes and Lyn's Bikes. It provides a GPS that I use on the bikes and walking. But the best part is the Radio, I can talk to base camp and even better if one of my group goes down or gets lost all they need to do it hit the trasmit button and I can see their location and even use it as a waypoint to navigate to them. The Garmin MapSource software is Mac compatable. BTW, I can get these at discount from time to time. Right now I can get you 2 for $500 (one for you an another rider you are with) that is 40% off of most EBay stores and 50% off Garmin.
Jim 0 Posted May 6, 2010 I use what seems to be the standard, Garmin 60 series. Used to use a Delorme PN-40, which has much better maps and imagery, but it wasn't Mac compatible, so I switched to the Garmin. I now use Garmin Basecamp for Mac to load tracks and do everything else. Recommend the ADV Garmin Mac thread.

Strega 0 Posted May 7, 2010 Garmin 60csx. Agreed, Garmin 60CSx. I bought mine on Amazon for about $250. I don't think you really need the bundle, I can help with the map stuff if you pick one up.

I might take you up that offer. I just brought one at Costco for $ 239.00. Thanks, Sondra
