walker1 1 Posted September 25, 2008 So, I wake up to see this little yacht leaving port. http://picasaweb.google.com/WalkerGW/MyLit...ey=oaqB-_1YcqU# There have been alot more larger private yachts tied up on the dock just below us this year. ICE is one of the biggest I've seen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_(yacht)
Chief Gunner 2 Posted September 25, 2008 Nice boat! The sub moored up behind the sloop caught my eye....Russian B-39 We do not have windows on our subs. Too many years of scanning the horizon while topside at sea on Navy Warships does that to you.
walker1 1 Posted September 25, 2008 Yeah, went on that thing couple years ago, not my style of boat. Scary! Don't know how those guys do it! I'd probably break my leg or something!
Strega 0 Posted September 25, 2008 That B-39 looks like the "Skorpion"
paulmbowers 236 Posted September 25, 2008 Several years ago I was hired to photograph workers at Campbell Shipyards while they built: http://yachts.monacoeye.com/yachtsbysize/p...enshadow01.html http://www.yachtspotter.com/ysp2_ycard.php?foo=20051211 Notice this 66 meter superyacht is only the tender to the much larger Golden Odessy. The walls of this yacht are lined with those images, and I'm still great friends with it's former captain and construction supervisor. With a decompression chamber, staff physician, seaplane elevator and helipad, it's essentially the garage for all the toys. The officers were mostly former royal navy, and highly paid- great folks. The annual fuel budget alone was something like 1.25 million dollars. But trust me, the owner is unconcerned. It is, in an overused word, amazing. fn
Erick 0 Posted September 25, 2008 I saw either the same or a similar boat cruising on the outside of the 9 while I was fishing last Friday. That thing is huge. We were figuring the fuel cost for cruising that beast. Probably in the neighborhood of 200 or so GPH @ 20 Knots. OUCH!!! On the other hand, if you can afford the boat, the fuel probably isn't an issue.
