I got there early, about 7am. Not many here yet.50.jpg

Lake Winnipesaukee, Weirs Beach.

Another popular tourist spot

65.jpg

Saw some interesting rides, like this one with the buick V-6.

51.jpg

52.jpg

54.jpg

Oh yeh, motorcycles.

Nice Indian hack.

55.jpg

56.jpg

Need something with more power??

How about this old school ridged with a flat head V-8?

57.jpg

58.jpg

Still not enough power? :lol::blink:

Boss Hoss 350 Chevy.

59.jpg

How about a 732HP big block? B)B);)

60.jpg

A cool combo.

61.jpg

62.jpg

By noon the croud grew a bit.

63.jpg

64.jpg

There were soo many things going on, couldn't see them all.

It is another place you could spend a week with all the happenings.

I decided to hit the road, rain was on the way.

There is alot of construction this time of year.

They had about 8 miles ground down and groved. The sign is a understatement.

66.jpg

I did not make far before it started to rain. Had to put on more gear in CT.

67.jpg

68.jpg

When I got to New York I saw a few of these strange looking Moose.

69.jpg

70.jpg

71.jpg

Looks like a tree hugger was trying a new tactic to save trees.

72.jpg

73.jpg

There were some awesome lakes in the catskills.

74.jpg

Stopped for a snack here.

75.jpg

76.jpg

77.jpg

More cool bridges.

78.jpg

Roadside lunch.

79.jpg

Typical farm up here

80.jpg

You don't see to many of these signs in CA.

81.jpg

82.jpg

I saw all the great lakes except Ontario. They are more like small oceans.

83.jpg

Toll bridge to Upper Michigan

84.jpg

More memorials for our fighting men & women.

85.jpg

Wish I knew how to fly, that would be the way to check out the area.

86.jpg

87.jpg

Road work delays.

Less than a 100 pics left.

On my way to Duluth, I saw this and decided to go south and avoid it.

93.jpg

150 miles later, It ended up being a supercell and I got nailed by the edge of it.

The store owner was really nice. He has kids in Escondido and Fallbrook.

94.jpg

You can see the marble to walnut size hail coming down.

95.jpg

96.jpg

When the first cell passed, it was nice to see some humor from the locals.

97.jpg

The local brew.

98.jpg

The vegetable stand caught my eye, do you see it?

99.jpg

Don't like the sea-taner in the yard and want to disguise it?

100.jpg

This was the biggest storage of wood I saw.

101.jpg

102.jpg

103.jpg

I would think the flags would be in order, to the right is North.

104.jpg

There was a whole lot of this in N.D.

105.jpg

106.jpg

107.jpg

cool bridge

108.jpg

In Montana you can camp at the city parks 4 FREE.

109.jpg

Insect control

110.jpg

A mini museum, too early.

111.jpg

112.jpg

Some of the big Monatna Deere

Be patient, still updating.

I had to take a break, no trees yet. Just the Boyz.

They didn't like my hamburger jokes much.

115.jpg

I was getting tired of rolling farm land. Nice to see some hills again.

116.jpg

117.jpg

118.jpg

Here is the yellow flower/weed. Seems to be alot of it.

119.jpg

By now I was off my planned route and just trying to miss the bigger

thunder storms. I needed to go south west from here. So the 212-296-120 to

Cody looked like a good route.

120.jpg

This turned out to be a great choice through Joliet MT. My buddy Ken's home town.

121.jpg

Some really fun roads.

122.jpg

Seems to be a favorite route.

123.jpg

This is in the middle of June and still lots of snow.

124.jpg

Awesome views, my camera does not show the true beauty.

125.jpg

126.jpg

127.jpg

128.jpg

129.jpg

130.jpg

131.jpg

Saw alot of friendly riders up there.

132.jpg

Posin by a snow drift.

133.jpg

Some frozen lakes

134.jpg

135.jpg

More adventure riders.

136.jpg

No wonder the snow is still here.

137.jpg

138.jpg

139.jpg

I guess I went up a little higher

140.jpg

141.jpg

Some small blowers. Doesn't look like they sat very long there.

142.jpg

143.jpg

The Video Cool ride.

It is absolutely beatuiful up here.

145.jpg

This was a nice place to have lunch and chill for a while.

147.jpg

Here is how you ruin a good pic with my ugly mug, in true R.O. fashion,

this proves I was there.

148.jpg

You can see where the snowmobiles went across when the lake was frozen.

149.jpg

The runoff from the lake had some nice waterfalls.

150.jpg

151.jpg

Just soaking up some more views.

152.jpg

These twisty roads in the mountains were some of the best on the whole trip!

153.jpg

154.jpg

More ice melt. I refilled my water here.

155.jpg

157.jpg

158.jpg

I turned towards Cody.

159.jpg

I stopped to take a break here. I decided to walk around and take some pics.

I walked out on this bridge and this woman approched me, took my hand and

said "be careful" We talked for a while and she got real emotional. Her husband

encouraged her to continue. Then she told me the story about her father and his passion with riding. Then about how this month, he was riding and a 70yr old man fell asleep at the wheel and took her father head on. I though about her and her father the rest of the trip.

160.jpg

161.jpg

I took it slow through the upcomming turns.

Great pics. I just got off vacation and you are still making me homesick. Thanks for taking the time to get pics. When I travel on vacation I don't leave enough time to stop for pictures. Some day I vow to take the time. Ken

Ok here is the last set.

Say goodby to the cool snow capped mountains.

163.jpg

From here I am not sure If it was the 296 or south on the 120 towards Cody.

Still some nice views.

164.jpg

165.jpg

166.jpg

One of my close encounters with deer was here. Moving along at a good clip I come over this rise and see a deer in the middle of my lane, instinct both brakes hard. I came to a complete stop and she was still in the middle of my lane until I went for the camera, you can see her off to the right.

167.jpg

From there I went into Cody for food & fuel. It was still early and I wanted to makeup some time from my siteseeing. I went south in the 120 to Thermopolis then south on the 20.

This was kinda cool. From Thermopolis south when the mountain ridge starts it is like you are going down into a canyon, but the river flows towards you. You are actually going up hill. towards the Boysen State park.

168.jpg

169.jpg

There were three cool tunnels for the cars and trains on the other side of the river.

170.jpg

171.jpg

One of the State Park campgrounds. Guess me and the camera were not getting along.

I got rained on that night, but the tent did not leak.

172.jpg

Next morning south to Shoshoni, Lander, Farson & rock springs

173.jpg

174.jpg

175.jpg

176.jpg

177.jpg

Another nice bridge

178.jpg

179.jpg

180.jpg

I used to live in a cabin about this size, with a better roof.

181.jpg

182.jpg

I had been dry camping for several days and only had a 120V charger for the camera.

Battery dead!

From here I rode to the the interstate to St George, I had to fight 40-50mph cross winds when I first got on the 80. I got there at 8:30 pm, still over 100 degrees.

I did not want to cross the desert at 115-120 degrees. I ate dinner, washed up, gassed up and loaded some gatoraid & ice. Headed for home, 15 to the 95 south to ElCentro and west home. Got home early in the morning.

Now that I have settled down a bit, I would like to say.

>>If you have never crossed coast to coast, you must. It was My first time on a bike, well not flying.

There is one drawback if you do!

It is ADDICTIVE! I am planning my next trip. Each place I stopped I would like to revisit indepth. I also wished I had my dualsport so many times, I saw so many trails I wanted to explore. I saw alot of roads, towns that I want to explore too.

The Adventure continues....

John, you are due for an Adventure Bike now........perhaps a Buell Ulysses, 950 or BMW ?? You need more than a thumper now, since you got bitten by the bug !! B)

Or perhaps we can find you a Ducati 900 Elefant ;)

Awesome trip and photos !! Thanks for sharing. :good:

I know how it feels.....you don't really want to get home...but once you do, it feels good to be home, relax, and see your best friends (the dogs).

John,

Thanks for sharing the great photos and story.

You've fired me up to plan my own adventure. There is a sickness that can only be cured by spending multiple days behind a set of handle bars.
