carguy 1 Posted June 29, 2008 On the way home I had to stop at Bike week in Laconia. I got there early, about 7am. Not many here yet. Lake Winnipesaukee, Weirs Beach. Another popular tourist spot Saw some interesting rides, like this one with the buick V-6. cool military hack. Oh yeh, motorcycles. Nice Indian hack. Need something with more power?? How about this old school ridged with a flat head V-8? Still not enough power? Boss Hoss 350 Chevy. How about a 732HP big block? A cool combo. By noon the croud grew a bit. There were soo many things going on, couldn't see them all. It is another place you could spend a week with all the happenings. I decided to hit the road, rain was on the way. carguy 1 Posted June 30, 2008 There is alot of construction this time of year. They had about 8 miles ground down and groved. The sign is a understatement. I did not make far before it started to rain. Had to put on more gear in CT. When I got to New York I saw a few of these strange looking Moose. Looks like a tree hugger was trying a new tactic to save trees. There were some awesome lakes in the catskills. Stopped for a snack here. More cool bridges. Roadside lunch. Typical farm up here You don't see to many of these signs in CA. I saw all the great lakes except Ontario. They are more like small oceans. Toll bridge to Upper Michigan More memorials for our fighting men & women. Wish I knew how to fly, that would be the way to check out the area. Road work delays. carguy 1 Posted July 2, 2008 Less than a 100 pics left. On my way to Duluth, I saw this and decided to go south and avoid it. 150 miles later, It ended up being a supercell and I got nailed by the edge of it. The store owner was really nice. He has kids in Escondido and Fallbrook. You can see the marble to walnut size hail coming down. When the first cell passed, it was nice to see some humor from the locals. The local brew. The vegetable stand caught my eye, do you see it? Don't like the sea-taner in the yard and want to disguise it? This was the biggest storage of wood I saw. I would think the flags would be in order, to the right is North. There was a whole lot of this in N.D. cool bridge In Montana you can camp at the city parks 4 FREE. Insect control A mini museum, too early. Some of the big Monatna Deere
carguy 1 Posted July 3, 2008 Be patient, still updating. I had to take a break, no trees yet. Just the Boyz. They didn't like my hamburger jokes much. I was getting tired of rolling farm land. Nice to see some hills again. Here is the yellow flower/weed. Seems to be alot of it. By now I was off my planned route and just trying to miss the bigger thunder storms. I needed to go south west from here. So the 212-296-120 to Cody looked like a good route. This turned out to be a great choice through Joliet MT. My buddy Ken's home town. Some really fun roads. Seems to be a favorite route. This is in the middle of June and still lots of snow. Awesome views, my camera does not show the true beauty. Saw alot of friendly riders up there. Posin by a snow drift. Some frozen lakes More adventure riders. No wonder the snow is still here. I guess I went up a little higher Some small blowers. Doesn't look like they sat very long there. The Video Cool ride.
carguy 1 Posted July 8, 2008 It is absolutely beatuiful up here. This was a nice place to have lunch and chill for a while. Here is how you ruin a good pic with my ugly mug, in true R.O. fashion, this proves I was there. You can see where the snowmobiles went across when the lake was frozen. The runoff from the lake had some nice waterfalls. Just soaking up some more views. These twisty roads in the mountains were some of the best on the whole trip! More ice melt. I refilled my water here. I turned towards Cody. I stopped to take a break here. I decided to walk around and take some pics. I walked out on this bridge and this woman approched me, took my hand and said "be careful" We talked for a while and she got real emotional. Her husband encouraged her to continue. Then she told me the story about her father and his passion with riding. Then about how this month, he was riding and a 70yr old man fell asleep at the wheel and took her father head on. I though about her and her father the rest of the trip. I took it slow through the upcomming turns.
Joliet 0 Posted July 8, 2008 Great pics. I just got off vacation and you are still making me homesick. Thanks for taking the time to get pics. When I travel on vacation I don't leave enough time to stop for pictures. Some day I vow to take the time. Ken

carguy 1 Posted July 9, 2008 Ok here is the last set. Say goodby to the cool snow capped mountains. From here I am not sure If it was the 296 or south on the 120 towards Cody. Still some nice views. One of my close encounters with deer was here. Moving along at a good clip I come over this rise and see a deer in the middle of my lane, instinct both brakes hard. I came to a complete stop and she was still in the middle of my lane until I went for the camera, you can see her off to the right. From there I went into Cody for food & fuel. It was still early and I wanted to makeup some time from my siteseeing. I went south in the 120 to Thermopolis then south on the 20. This was kinda cool. From Thermopolis south when the mountain ridge starts it is like you are going down into a canyon, but the river flows towards you. You are actually going up hill. towards the Boysen State park. There were three cool tunnels for the cars and trains on the other side of the river. One of the State Park campgrounds. Guess me and the camera were not getting along. I got rained on that night, but the tent did not leak. Next morning south to Shoshoni, Lander, Farson & rock springs Another nice bridge I used to live in a cabin about this size, with a better roof. I had been dry camping for several days and only had a 120V charger for the camera. Battery dead! From here I rode to the the interstate to St George, I had to fight 40-50mph cross winds when I first got on the 80. I got there at 8:30 pm, still over 100 degrees. I did not want to cross the desert at 115-120 degrees. I ate dinner, washed up, gassed up and loaded some gatoraid & ice. Headed for home, 15 to the 95 south to ElCentro and west home. Got home early in the morning. Now that I have settled down a bit, I would like to say. >>If you have never crossed coast to coast, you must. It was My first time on a bike, well not flying. There is one drawback if you do! It is ADDICTIVE! I am planning my next trip. Each place I stopped I would like to revisit indepth. I also wished I had my dualsport so many times, I saw so many trails I wanted to explore. I saw alot of roads, towns that I want to explore too. The Adventure continues....
