Reximus 10 Posted November 23, 2015 It was a blast. Lost my gear bag on a corner in TJ shredded at 80 kilometros cada hora! Contingency is always fun. Base camp at Estero Beach The kids in San Quitin formed a roadblock and demanded steek-yurs. Got to good chuckles out of that. Rode around punta baja for a few hours till the bikes came. Loaded our bikes and chased from el rosario to near alfonsinas. It was my first real experience chasing. I had no idea that the chase vehicles race their own race too. What a riot. The new (1996) f250 did great keeping up with the rest of the trucks. We came with 300 lbs of beer, and left with 0 lbs of beer but many excellent tacos made up for the spent weight. Tim, I am glad to see that chris didn't wipe out on that corner. I know the guys had a few falls, and JP likely broke his hand early in the race, although he still finished his section from el rosario to chapala. The 60 watt vhf that I installed a few weeks ago worked great. Was able to talk the crew at Lazaro Cardenas, from the beach in el rosario! North of san felipe we came across a woman who crashed her road bicycle. She had a badly dislocated shoulder so we made her a nice sling and bussed her down to the rest of her ride group. I hope that I added to the karma bank from which I have taken so much. The police and military were especially helpful and supportive. They helped us interpret some maps and gave directions. So much so that I wonder if they had pressure from tourism ministry or something like that. It was a great trip. I am still coming down from the experience.
