Honda90 0 Posted August 9, 2014 I have an old bike with a new carb. I have heard that gas additives destroy soft parts, therefore I should run my carb dry when I park it at night. On the other hand, I heard that drying out the carb makes soft parts age prematurely and become brittle. The bike never sits for more than a few days at a time. What should I do? Thanks! Vacman 0 Posted August 9, 2014 I run carbs dry if I'm putting something into long term storage but for a bike being ridden every few days I wouldn't bother.
Oracle 195 Posted August 10, 2014 This is not something you have to worry about if the bikes doesn't sit more then a few days at a time.
dirt dame 561 Posted August 10, 2014 I drain my carb if I am not planning on using the bike in the following week. I do it with all my bikes, and have been doing it for years and years. Beats hsving to do a carb clean, if you don't get back to riding the bike in a timely manner. And gas in the float bowl can turn green and start being smelly in as little as one week.
