Kern first trip this year except for January 1

Don't know But I am hopping for the best. It seems all the forest web cams I have been using are down for some reason I am thinking it is budget .

I plan to ride by Alta Vista and maybe Breckenridge .

kern is on my Must Do destination list this summer...can't do 5/19 though, heading on a 3-4 day riding weekend for memorial day the week after...I Love the Kern area!

The Kern Plateau or Kennedy Meadows area is higher elevation and generally isn't open until Memorial Day during lighter snowfall years and July 4th on the heavier years. I think this year was average for snowfall, but they got quite a pounding later in the season. I wouldn't expect the Kennedy/Troy trails to be open until June.

We normally ride closer to Lake Isabella, South in the Piutes and West around Alta Vista and Greenhorn mountains.

Talked to the ranger today 5-11 she said snow is gone but crews haven't cleared all the trails .

That's ok if we can't hop over it can build a bridge.

Agreed. I am bringing my small handsaw to help clear trails if we need to.

How did the ride turn out? How were the conditions? Snow? Moisture in the dirt? Many down trees this year? I'm headed up tomorrow night to ride Tuesday so I'll find out then but I saw your post...
