Goofy Footer 539 Posted December 28, 2011 I got up for bagstr's ride today, even made it to Jacumba before I had to pull over at the gas stop and take an hour nap. Ha, I guess that's what happens when you're at the bar the night before. In my defense, I'm on winter break. I stopped in Ocotillo and went for a spin. 6.25 hours 130 dirt miles. Only snapped a few phone pics From Ocotillo I rode north then east by the mine or dig site whatever it is, through Painted Gorge and into the hills Wandered my way through the trails and came to this washout. Didn't really want to deal with it, its a road that went up the mountain. Maybe another time Up BLM 190 or 191 (I can't remember) onto San Felipe wash Always refreshing to see crappy graffiti Dry mud flakes. I'll describe them as "crispy" From the trestle I took the tracks BLM 85 southeast to BLM 200? east to Superstition. Rode the mini dunes for a bit before looping around the back of Sups. Its a rocky, inconsistent trail but still fun so long as you pace yourself. I skirted the range and took BLM 84? west towards pole line. Through a long wash on 84? I got a surprise scare from two buggies blasting at me head on. I was cruising in 5th gear and locked up the rear trying to brake and get to safety. Once I hit Pole Line Rd I rode north to get gas at Salton City. My only spill occurred while standing up and looking too far ahead. I misjudged the section I was in and went sliding face first into home base. Pole Line Rd north of the 78 is smooth and fast. It is practically an interstate and people ride accordingly (me included). I took Pole Line Rd south to BLM 75 east, BLM 85 south to the powerline road by Plaster City to Painted Gorge. I think I took Painted Gorge Rd to Evans Hwy and rode the dirt to the truck. The sun had gone down and I rode without my tinted goggles but it was better than riding the whoops in pitch dark like last time. Where Am I Riding Link ignore the drive from SF to SD
