Uncle Champ 116 Posted April 12, 2011 I do not know if that is the proper description but one of my student workers just got a 450R and he wanted me to supply him with some magnesium rod to weld up his buddys valve cover, they have matching bikes and the kid is a hell of a welder. I don't have said rod laying around and from his description of the part it seemed easier to me to buy a replacement. He states the part is $145. new. Anybody know a good avenue to pursue? Now if I could just get him to wear the chest protector I gave him, oh to be young and bulletproof again. I'll just nurse my blue bruised ribcage and wait for a response. Thanks. hoss314 0 Posted April 12, 2011 It is just a valve cover....as long as there are no mounting areas on the valve cover near where the crack is....I would just use a two stage epoxy. hard to say without seeing the damage...post a pic if you got one
Papa Smurf 0 Posted April 12, 2011 Check Ebay. I currently don't have any in stock. JB Weld like stated above is an easy and permanant fix if done correctly.
Uncle Champ 116 Posted April 13, 2011 Thanks guys, I told him about the epoxy deal and he says they tryed that but the damage is such that it still leaked around the edge. Sometimes you just have to buy parts. Thanks.
