  1. I have three tanks.

The exc tank has it's own seat
The Acerbis and Safari use the same seat.

Difference is in the spacing and the pan of the exc has a more material and seems to be at a different angle on the front slope vs. the others but it can be make to work, your just deforming the seat pan more than some would like, and dealing with the gap you see in the above pic at the front part of the seat

990, so fuel injection?  Can you hear the fuel pump cycling when you turn the key on?  My simple test is to remove the air filter, spray some carburetor cleaner in the throttle body and see if it fires up for a second.  If it does, pretty much guarantees that it’s a fuel system issue.

Message me if you want, I can get it going for you.

This guy know his ---- stuff

  3. It looks like on the 525 they are just slightly recessed in the bottom of the fork, not a whole lot of space but a cover that went over the bottom of the fork would be good enough for protecting it

  4. ^^ What he said
they are as very active group in the Temecula area.
Its an easy hour ride for me to get to the start of their rides on Wed from where I like, but your closer so might be better arrangements for your situation.

Keep an eye on our meetings forum we have the occasional tech day in North County SD

I've been eyeing plastic or aluminum lug protectors, but the gobblers stick out ~1/2" from the bottom of the fork and I don't think any lug protectors will work for that. The gobblers are pretty solid aluminum and I figure S101 would have heard about any problems with damage if there were any. They might get beat up, but I doubt I'll actually break them. I'll keep ya'll posted either way. 2 days of rocky big bear and they're still working and adjusting just fine. Should know more this coming weekend.

Anyone know of a lug protector that will work?

I have been looking at mine and am thinking about fabbing something up, it doesn't have to be bullet proof just enough to have something between rock and hard place.

Good project for someone with a handheld scanner and 3d printer.

I will have to make mine out of AL, well just because

  6. are you using mineral oil for the clutch or does it take brake fluid.

It the oil replace it with 1.5 weight fork oil.
Stands up to the heat WAY better than the mineral oil.
If brake fluid just flush it annually.

  7. @Dan Diego had the exact same problem.
I told him go to any good boot cobbler, they have the tools and sauce that you put on the leather to stretch it in specific areas.

ANY place that can resole boots should be able to do it for you.
Otherwise you get yourself a boot tree and build up that specific area, spray the zone on the inside with the stuff (need to google it) and stretch it out yourself but it might not be a permanent because i think heat is used to affix the leather once it has been stretched

This is the one I know of in my area

edit: Doh!! I wrote this at the end of a very long hot ride day and was trying to catch up/burn through a weeks messages.
I woke up at Kennedy Meadows campground  not Kernville. Apologies.
