Desert run this weekend 3/2 or 3/3 ?

Recommended Posts

Anyone interested in parking at the Ocotillo Chevron and doing a loop this weekend? No set route, just wander around and maybe head for Borrego or Salton City for lunch and fuel. Intermediate (ish) skill level. Low key, no stress ride!

How much fuel range would be necessary? Stock tank on a KTM 350 be OK?

You'll probably be OK as I was planning on heading to Salton City or Borrego for fuel. Don't let that stop you from joining us, I'll throw in my little Moose fuel bag for insurance.

Awesome, would love to join. I'll see if I have a 1L fuel bottle I can bring. Looking forward to it!

Great. Looks  like it may be a little windy, but we'll power through.

We had a great day. No rain, but the wind came up later in the day after we stopped for fuel in Salton. The dirt is still really good, the sand is still wet underneath. Turned into a pretty big day at 138 miles....good times!

Not too much stopping with that kind of mileage but I managed to snag a few pictures.

Long, foggy, and rainy drive from San Diego but saw a good omen dropping down to the sunny desert floor.

350thumper usually leads rides out here but wanted to ride sweep today and look for anything that falls off my bike (like me)

Doesn't matter how sketchy, 350thumper always volunteers to go first

350thumper peeled off after a late lunch, kicked up a windstorm pinning the 650Large through the sand

Nearing the end, well deserved water break
