Tracks for an interesting ride to Santa Veronica

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys-

I booked a room at Hacienda Santa Veronica for Friday night. I am looking for a route that has minimal asphalt, and can be done in 3-4 hours (KTM's but sane).

V-Dog and KKug have hooked me up for Mikes, but I didn't want to bug them directly.

Thanks,

Jim

Pm me your email and I'll send some tracks that may work. They are listed on dualsportmaps.com as part of my "Baja Note" file.

"may work"...i love it. Sounds like Jim doesn't mind getting lost once in a while at least... :heh:

Ha! The tracks work but no sure if that's what he had in mind - some hwy (8 miles) heading due south from Tecate. Also be sure and eat at the Carnitas stand on your left just before you turn off the hwy and go east.

Thanks, Afry. Been a little slow to reply as I have been doing bike maintenance. But she's ready to rip!

I'll load those tracks and let you know what I think.

@oracle, whatever. ;-0 The best way to discover new trails is to point your front tire in a general direction and go for it. I have learned over the years that all roads in Baja seem to cross each other if you ride them long enough. It is a peninsula, after all.

Hey Arfy-

I couldn't figure out that site. It started out pretty well, but then I would get these spurs. But then I thought to try google, and then walking conditions. It started out with a really good base, and then I could drag and drop with much higher precision. But I truly do appreciate the effort!

I am really excited about this ride. My uncle, who lives outside of Fresno, and my brother, who lives in San Francisco, are both coming down for the weekend. My uncle is 72 and knows Baja like Malcom Smith, but has been afraid to come down for the last 10 years. This is my brother's second ride on his new 500 EXC...we are not twins, except when it comes to bikes as we both have GS's and EXC's. This is also his very first ride in Baja on a dirt bike, let alone the first he'll have seen the 500 in person. Reminds me of when I was 16.

@Beezzz 2014 KTM 350 EXC

@Pat760 Thanks, man. We'll be heading out of the Tecate the same you and I did, but then heading due east. I'll get more tracks for our next ride. ;-)
