Route from Cals to Pirates Cove

Recommended Posts

I've got a friend coming for a visit on a BMW GS650. I'm thinking about bypassing Cals and going to Pirates Cove instead. How is the trail along the coast once you get past the turnoff to San Vicente?

Is there more than one route without going back up to the highway?

The trails totally do able but seems to change up a bit everytime I ride it as the locals move their farming areas around. Just keep working south and be prepared to back track a little here and there and you'll be fine. That GS may be a handful in some of the sections.

Yup, what he said.

I've done that route 3 1/2 times in the past 12 months. Changes every time. Hence, the 1/2!

Some washouts but doable even on a bigger bike.

Expect a little backtracking if you haven't been on that route for a while.

And you caught up to me on a 400, riding two up. I'm humbled.

You know, more I think about it, between the whales, bees up noses, and Chris's "hey, my engine just made a funny noise", that was a pretty interesting ride. I'm thinking a do-over.
