How do I know when to adjust the valves 1990 dr 350

Hey there fellow dual sporters. Curious If there's a way to know when to adjust there's or I just have to rip the bike apart every 1,000 miles to find out. Also any good videos on how to do so?

That's a great write up! But how do I know when? Miles, sounds, etc?

If it's a used bike and you haven't checked them, then do it. After that, you can check them whenever you feel like it, every 5K miles is probably too often . More important to check the oil level, some DR's need a bit of oil added but not many need constant valve adjustments. Check the oil at every gas fill up.
