PastaPilot 17 Posted January 27, 2014 A shot of camp. http://koa.com/campgrounds/lake-isabella/ I have no idea who those guys are. I stole the photo from the website above. We rode right across the street and into the mountains. After climbing almost 5000' in elevation we stopped for a water break. Dropped down a superb trail with a lot of down trees. Here, John goes around rather than under. Cheater Heading back down. Quite a view. For day 2 we trucked over to Keyesville. And were greeted with this mess of ruts. But is was OK because we were treated with exceptional views. Up in the mountains we had to deal with a little bit of snow Great views all day Never disappointed with taking the time to drive up there.

PastaPilot 17 Posted January 27, 2014 Wow, you guys got into all sorts of varied terrain on that trip! :coolio:/> Yes. The camp is around 2500' and the sign at Dry Meadow trailhead read, "Dry Meadow Trail, Elevation 7495' ". At camp, as you can see it's high desert conditions with daily temps in high 70s to 80s. In the mountains there is thick forest and it was 40s to low 60s just depended on the shade and density of the forest. I didn't take pictures but some parts of the mountain roads the ice patches were 100' long and varied from crusty fluff to ice skating rink smooth. All of us took at least a couple diggers up there. I got completely stuck on one ice patch and had to wait for help to pull my bike back onto some hard pack and get some traction. It took just about all I had to stay upright. Hope to go again in the next few weeks.

PastaPilot 17 Posted February 5, 2014 I finally downloaded and viewed the GPS data for the Saturday ride. 5600' elevation gain, ~70 miles of riding, about 40 miles of singletrack. 15 miles was to Cold Spring to refill the hydro packs. Going back this month to prep body and bike for Soboba.
