Baja ride 1/20-1/21/06 116.4 miles

My first moto trip back down to Baja in almost 12 years.

Left this Friday morning.

We got down to my trailer (8 Miles North of San Felipe) about 11:45AM.

Unloaded the bikes (he has a 2002 WR250F).

We got our gear on, and head out for a little break in ride.

We started down the Saltito Rd. (Zoo RD.) West.

Rode to the intersection of Morelia Rd/Diablo Dry Lake, (12 Miles).

Turned back towards the East, and took the San Felipe dump road South.

That road has gotten REALLY bad. Deep sand with rocks mixed in, and HUGE

whooptie doos.

Came in to San Felipe for fish tacos, and a cold Pacifico.

We road back up Highway 5 to my trailer.

Sat. Agua Caliente (Valle Chico)

We were geared up at 9:35.

Started back to the Morelia intersection.

South from there for 26 miles to the abandoned Rancho Linda Vista.

I had not been to Morelia in 15+ years, so I missed the turn West towards

Valle Chico hot springs.

We ended up 6 miles too far South.

Turned back, and finally turned West into Morelia. (Actual mileage 41)

FYI.

The road South to Morelia has changed, it used to go past a green school building.

This school is now abandoned, and not on the road from the North.

Road into Valle Chico, to were we had build a sand bag pool in the hotsprings.

There must have been an earthquake or some other diversion, because where we

found hot water 15 years ago, is now only cold.

Since it was 2:15, we decided to head back to the camp.

Back in the trailer at 4:50.

Total for the trip: 116.4 miles (Including the wrong turn).

The road has gotten much rougher with last year's rain.

Smooth sections were now dotted with 5-6" high rocks.

Hard packed sections were now deep sand.

Got back to the trailer on reserve (stock 2.25 gal tank), with my

arms PUMPED and tingling.

Great ride after the first few cold beers back at the trailer.
