The biggest issue you will have riding it in 1 day is they won't give you the second day route until the morning of. Otherwise it can be done. We took 2 days to ride up, but rode back in 1 day. There's a few challenging parts, but for the most part, it's wide open desert riding and usually lots of sand. It's not hard to keep a good pace.
