Would like opinion on IMS or Clarke 3.9 for DRZs

Recommended Posts

The IMS carries the gas lower and protects the radiators. Fuel can get caught on the right fairing requiring the ole "tip it over" technique for getting fuel to the left petcock if you run it really low (I've only ever had to do this once - in DV two miles from camp).

The Clarke should be less expensive, keeps the stock radiator shrouds but carries the weight higher and can interfere with the choke lever, especially on FCR carbs.

I have the IMS 3.2 and IMS 4.1 for my E. I'd say IMS but go with what looks better to you!

The clark's a bit easier to install, getting my IMS over my unabiker radiator guards is fairly tricky (but my radiators are really well protected). I've heard wheelies work almost as well as the "tip it over" technique for transferring gas to the other fairing. :D

I have the clarke and rad guards- no issues and installed easily

Original cap leaked a bit but replaced it and works great

I have an IMS on the KLR and had an acerbis on the DR

All are good tanks-
