bikeslut 1 Posted February 6, 2012 We had crfxer on his KTM, uncle champ on his 450X, nomilk on a WR450, DRDan on the DR600, and danrider and his sone (ktm and rmz respectively)...and me on old faithful Interesting mix of bikes, styles, ages...everything as diverse as could be Some pictures in a few, but generally we rode the whole time. Everybody nailed the mine climb, but stagecoach presented some challenges...
crfxer 87 Posted February 6, 2012 I took a few pics, no action, just some general scenery types. Nice fun day, home in time for the Commercialbowl Oh, I guess there was one action shot
DRDan 0 Posted February 6, 2012 Thanks for the help while not riding... ... and if you weren't helping, for your patience. My first flat ever.. out, in the goonies. Trails like that make me thing more and more about getting a lighter bike. Had a great time either way. Dan.
bikeslut 1 Posted February 6, 2012 DRdan- first off...good job riding that beast on those trails! The weight of that bike is not crazy, and with the low seat height, it makes it easier...when I rode it for that short time, I did notice those forks are VERY "sproingy"...that is a technical term only used in the higher echelons of suspension professionals...maybe have it looked at; it bounced a lot (and my DRZ is a mess, but still better than that) Also- some things you should address immediately on your tire- 1- check spacers; I think we mixed them up and tire is off center-microfiche from bikebandit or ronayers... 2- you need a 17" tube back there-running a 21 right now 3- your spoke strip is gone-new strip or smooth duct tape application 4- adjust your rear brake 5- get a rimlock- when you air down, the reduced pressure from the tube allows the tire to spin independently of the rim, which is how you flatted in the first place Thanks all for the ride! Always fun out there, and thanks for the patience while we ham-fisted that wheel-
danrider 5 Posted February 6, 2012 Hats off to bikeslut, for a great ride. I would highly recommend this ride for anyone that would like to see what the horses did back in the day. So much around San Diego that we should see, the views of this ride are incredible , as bikeslut posted , it was an intermediate ride that was a blast. What a way to spend superbowl Sunday. Is taken care of, because 2. is now in the front. 3.is being installed with the 17" tube as well as (5.) the rimlock. 4. will happen tomorrow during reinstall. Nice of you to confirm - I always thought the word was spongy.... - the thing about my forks. -have the oil, hope the springs aren't worn out. -But I'm still keeping an eye out for a good priced younger bike, with all the goodies, that have advanced in the past 25 years. I still think you should've accepted that Samitch Da
