Sounds like a nice ride! I will be there. I also will be trailering. Not familiar with the parking situation. Will there be enough for trucks and trailers? I am recovering from slight injury. I will not be trying to break any speed records, just taking in some scenery. How challenging will this be?

Sure is nice to finally start meeting a lot of you guys and put a face with the names. Carguy(John) and Sandiegoland(Craig) were great riding partners. Would of been lost for days out there! Thanks for holding the bike Craig. I will be making the crutch kick stand this week. Like Craig said it was a work out. Being out both days I am feeling it. The crash did not help much. I think I have seen enough sand until the Desert Dash!!! We'll see. Cant wait until next time. Great write ups. Thanks again!

Great write up. Great trip with no problems. Nice meeting both Alex and Steve. Thanks for going on short notice. Lets do it again, maybe mountain trails next time!

As for the Sat ride. If neither Trigger or myself break down Fri, I will be there as well. Need to get in as much practice as possible while I can.

Looking to do some riding. Maybe practice for the Desert Dash in the sand. Maybe putt around on some trails. Anything is better than nothing!

I have an extra 650l motor and a trans/ lower end from a 600r. I would like to add the trans/kickstart from the 600r to the 650l motor. While its broken down I figure upgrade with bore/piston/cam, with all the goodies! I need advice on a local shop that is good.

The lowest most forward block/case bolt hole is stripped. I guess time took its toll and the threads are now on the bolt, and not on the block where they belong. What is my fix? Do I take it to a shop and have them heli coil new threads? Do I need to split cases and replace gasket?

Im out!! While changing oil and prepping for the big ride, I noticed moisture/ oil around one of my case bolts. It seems it stripped the threads out of the block/case! DDAAAMMMNNN IT to hell. Looks like I get to look forward to a nice long day of work. Good luck! Be safe. Document everything.

Mangler gets a little excited! We don't need people running cars off the road, right Jay! Standard rule of Half hour should always apply. If you want to leave earlier set the time for earlier. 10 Minutes is no time to meet and shoot the shite! That being said, I will be there and ready to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to a muffler shop this afternoon and had my exhaust patched! Lost 1/2 days work, but stayed late and caught back up. It will be all worth it to go Sat.!! Im in!!!!!!!!

Sorry about that KIP! Wouldnt you know while haulin ars back home, the bracket for my heat shield broke, leaving a quarter size hole in my header. When it rains it pours!!! Looks like a bitchin trail. We will hook up in the future and give it another try. Again sorry!

Carguy I do appreciate your offer, but that trip will have to wait for and earlier day with less pressure. I need to get back and pack up bike/fam/stuff. We are going to mountains for extended weekend. Traffic trying to get back home would be 3 hrs. Wife already does enough nagging!! That would set a nasty mood for the hole weekend, and I would like to ride up there as well.

I live in Encinitas. Up for any type of ride. You seem much more knowledgabe about trails and such, so I will trust you. 12:00 is good. Depending on what you want to do, and where you want to do it, I can either ride out or truck it! Skill level is average.

Have to say I had a wonderful day with you guys. Riding was excellant! Mix of all types of terrain. I did not know it was Waynes's birthday today. Happy Birthday! Cant wait do it again.

The Bum will be there 8:00! I drilled my slide, changed to synthetic, spark plug, and rejetted!! OHHH MY!! Triggers now a thoroughbred! See you Sat., or you will see my back end Sat. that is!!!

Couldnt you guys in ramona take Del Dios, through to Encinitas, and up Rancho Sante fe, or El camino real to San Marcos Blvd? No freeway, nice windy roads, with no traffic in the morning. Best roads I know of. Dont know the roads through elfin forest. I will be there with my beast, sure would like to see some other 650ls so I could figure some stuff out! Hope to see you there!

First off thanks go out to KIP for leading and setting up that ride! That's why I joined this club. Going on great rides, meeting great people, and learning. I wanted to go on a scenic ride, but quickly realized that was not going to happen.
It was neat coming up to the gas station and seeing all the bikes ready to go! People have described the first part of the ride. Totally enjoyed the rough terrain. Did not enjoy the "Drop Off". Did not think I would do stuff like that. Sometimes you got to say WTF! Peer pressure doesn't help the situation.
After lunch Lucien showed me how to stiffen the front suspension. Did that come in handy! Lots of deep sand all the way to Borrego. Short cruise on the road to Jasper trail. Wonderful trail and great contrast to what we had done earlier. Hit the road back Julian. That's when Lucien " Lucifer" taunted me relentlessly until I chased him up the mountain. Ridiculous speeds that should not be done on knobbies.
