  1. Mike is one of the toughest guys I ever rode with.

He says this only because we did not make it to the hardest part, and he wants me to go back!! On the down hill crash I think I would of scored at least a 9.5 for my dismount. A beautiful over the bars tuck and roll dismount. Never before worn elbow pads. Good thing I did! Soon to be the poster child for proper safety equipment! Its kind of funny looking at myself looking at "trigger" like its the bikes fault! POS!

The fact that the Hammer takes his wife down those trails only goes to verify that there is a padded room waiting for both of them!

BTW, only Mike was foolish enough to follow H.H.

How about we substitute "Brave, Manly, Adventurous" in the future!

All in all it was a great ride. No one got hurt! True dual sporting action! Was nice meeting Greg. Thanks for leading a great ride while showing us some new trails.

  2. One of my favorites is to hit Nate Harrison up through Palomar then down to Henshaw and around into Warner Springs/Aguanga for 8S05 and 9S07. I like to check out the view from the Palomar Lookout tower,

Wednesday will be just fine. How about meeting at the gas station/minimart on the west side of the 15 on Hwy. 76 at 9am?

This is the plan. I think I have been on part of this trail once. Not sure. Cannot tell you the intensity. I have no desire in making this that intense of a ride. The KLR should be able to handle it! Ha Ha. If Hotroddin Hamm'n wants to show me some trails for another ride I am not against it. I just want to get out meet some more of you folk and do some ridin. Would also like to learn some of the trails that we can ride as I really am limited in this knowledge. More the merrier, no one gets left behind. See you tomorrow!

A day spent on the bike can't really be bad anywhere!

Tues. or Weds. good for me.

Sounds good to me! How about we set it for Wed.? If this works, tell me where and when you want to meet.

  4. I used to spend big money on the HD tubes. They fail just like other tubes. I am now running a cheaper tube, but putting slime in the rear for added protection from punctures! I think I have about 10 18 inch rear tubes left. 6 bucks each. Also added addition of rim locks. This is a must if running in sand and such. Any tube will fail when the valve stem gets ripped off from tire spinning!

  5. Seems like this is a everyday event on this website. Now its my turn. I need advice on getting a good lawyer. I would like to know from some of you that have gone through this on what actions I should take, and in what order? Any advice would be appreciated! On a side note I have to withdraw from entering the Desert Dash! Next time.

  6. I met Hondapilot in Ramona. We had a blast. We were exploring and finding new trails. Cant tell you where we went cause Im good like that! Have to say it was probably the best ride I have gone on yet! We did some old favorites. Then we found a pile of new trails waiting to be ridden. Some single track, and hit a patch of snow! Im sure he will let you know where they all are! It got cut short because I had to pick up my kids. It took us 2 hours to get back to ramona by street and black canyon. I had to pick them up with moto in tow, but I made with minutes to spare. Thanks Jon it was great. Next time we will start earlier go farther and log some new trails.

  7. Thanks to Chief Gunner for having an excellent get together. He took the time to go back and take care of Sante fe Dreamin! He also took the time to cook and have food ready when we finally made it back. Damn nice!!

Gunner your bike looked awesome. I would like to add "King of Bling" to your title. Nice bike!

Backhoedoc was awesome to show us the valve adjustment routine! Just to let you guys know there is a specific method to checking the valves. I read my manual and redid the adjustments Sunday. All ticking gone.

Sante fe Dreamin! Ouch! Once again the Bum comes up with a misdiagnosis! Pretty soon they will take away my Medical License. Get well and we will give it another go!

Thanks to everyone. It was nice meeting more of you. See you on the next ride!

  8. Since there is going to be alot of 650l's at this thing, I would like to know how many would like to make some case savers for their bike. I was going to bring some aluminum and my 4 inch diamond blade w/grinder. I made some for the right side yesterday. Not hard, just takes a little time! You wont be able to mount. Jb weld will need time to dry, but you would have some in hand! Chime in if you want me to bring it. Or wait for Manglers factory made set up!

  9. Thanks to Jim for setting up the night ride. It was a first for me, well several firsts. Ride down from north county made it a long ride. Maybe thats why I cant sleep now.

The dark really adds a different dimension. Street tires off-roading also added a different dimension. I had never been up Otay. Got a little to cocky at the top and almost slid off one of the turns. SCARY! All I could think of while sliding was jump off and let the bike go, but bum luck was on my side. Now as for OTC hill, I did not think EASY meant hill climb. Effort would of scored 10.0, execution 1.8! DAMN IT JIM!!

It was nice meeting some new folk. Hope to see you again at the Desert Dash.

  10. Just bend the guards. I crash ALOT! The guards end up needing bending all the time! Cutting the ball off can lead to nasty injury! Crashing and pinching/driving a cut lever through hand/finger, OUCH!! If your old/new rally pros need a home let me know!

  11. Mescalero has a pretty nice set up! Just from experience I would change a couple things. Get yourself the 2cnd wind pump. Carry 3 co2 cartridges. 2 cartridges and a little extra from the pump will change one rear tube. Tube repair kits, suck!!! I carry one, but would only use it for a last resort! Carry both tubes, 21 and 18. Folding a 21 for the rear when you have the rim lock in is a pain in the ass. Nothing can beat the feeling of knowing you have a new fresh tube so you can continue the ride. Save the emergency crap for the second time and head for home! I myself have started to slime my tubes that are mounted just for extra care! Tools are kind of a personal choice. I try to carry all the tools I use to work on my bike. You should practice mounting/ changing tires. Change spark plug. Dismantle things that you think you might have to work on, always trying to pull the tools out of your tool bag. When doing this try reduce the tools to the smallest possible to eliminate space and weight.
