  1. That race bike is going to require race bike maintenance. It may run strong now, but give it some time. When your top end needs replacing my older than dirt 650 engine will just barely be broken in.

My 93 650l bike I just purchased had 46,000 miles on it. 46,000! Minor engine work is all it needs. Amazing durability.

  2. Why plate a race bike?

I will take the PLATED cr500 since who needs that right!

    get used to it

    why keep the 600?

IT WOULD BE REALLY HARD!!! :)

Not hard at all really. The are keeping up with a 15+ year old design. If they took that design added FI like they will have to. Hopped up the engine for a little more performance. Add all the new digital crap. Upgrade the suspension design. BIngo! They would be blowing you away instead of competing.

Come on now. They invented dual sporting. They have dominated forever. They have ridden the cash cow as long as they could. Why change the design until they had to.

You fair weather friends will be back after your " Latest and Greatest" have left you "High and Dry!" Now go make some money so you can afford your mechanic's bill.

  3. I am tall with a high center of gravity. My technique is to get my arse over the rear fender. I try to not use the front brake, as I have found (especially in sand) that it is very easy to lock up, and then you go down. I would rather lock the rear, pull in the clutch and slide the back end. I have recently put powerpegz on. These have helped tremendously. They will pivot, so when going down steep hills(or up) you can shift you weight back and your feet will keep in full contact with the flat face of the peg. Also makes it easier to rotate your foot while on the peg to activate your rear brake.

  4. Well I have been waiting to see what the weather had in store. It went from small chance to the sky is falling. Forecast for the mountains is lots of snow. Since you guys will never call me the " Worlds greatest dualsport rider," I am inclined to take the kids up to the snow so I can at least retain the title of " Worlds greatest Dad!" If the snow does not happen, I will try to make it to a ride on Sunday.

  5. This weekend should be a nice weekend to ride. They are saying small chance of rain Fri and maybe Sat. Dust should still be down. Heat should be down. Looking to do off road. There has to be some trails open or opening. I still have not ridden our club trail. Maybe some good desert exploration scouting trails for the dash? Lets put together a LONG off road session, PLEASE!

  6. Yes, Bum's bum is no longer bummed!

Standing in some situations is good. When you are a large individual like myself, sometimes it is not good to raise an already high center of gravity even higher.

Just trying to give people cheap options to modify thier bikes for the better!

  7. I found a cheap and easy way to improve you seat. I recently purchased a corbin seat for my bike. When I got it I quickly realized that the corbin is a street machine seat vs the off road beast. At the same time I also purchased a used gel pad to put on the corbin. Not being happy with the corbin I took the gel pad down to the upolsterer's ( however it is spelled) and had them install into my stock seat. I tested it today in big bear and my arse feels great. No more pressure point pains. Ars never got sour off road. A little numb/ not in pain on road, thats probably from road vibs from nobbies! So 25$ for the pad w memory foam. Usually $100, and $40 to be installed. $65 Sweet!
