  1. I am looking to take the Ktm 990 and explore some fire roads/ trails in Ramona-Escondido to see whats open. I am not looking to get to aggressive just want to get the big bike out for a shakedown. I will be leaving early from NCounty. I want to be in Ramona hitting the trails by 8:00 and get back early afternoon.
  2. Was having some trouble with creating/ downloading some tracks. I do not know if where I am going is possible/ legal. May be lots of back tracking. I am running late so I will be doing it alone. Hopefully finding some places out behind the wild animal park leading into guejito truck trails. Exploring in the area. Then Mesa grande to Lusardi towards Pala.
  3. The bike was in Kansas. I had to have it shipped. Not many people wanted to ship it from Kansas to Socal without a large price tag.
  4. I am hoping I can head out with you guys when the 500 shows up. I cant wait to try the modern bike out. Hopefully I can keep up with you seasoned Dez veterans.

SDAR DS Evolution shirts- sale/ input

I have some. I have an xl for you.
  6. Thank you for the invite and taking me up there. I thought I was late and missed everyone. I was riding the back roads for a while looking for the trail head as I did not know where it was. I figured I would go back and get a picture of the meeting spot just to prove I was there when I see Tom. Nice little ride up to the top. Long ride from Ncounty but the open views from the top are really nice.
  7. I will be having a get together at my place in Crestline. Looking to meet up and do some big bike stuff in the area. Camp out/ stay at the house for a bbq head home next day. Your welcome to come up if interested.
  8. Tom, no one is chiming in. Maybe I will let 990 stretch its legs and venture down south. Have a beer in Otay pay respect to the fallen rider. Let me know where you are meeting up.
  9. Todd Price 4 hrs Summer opener & Memorial day weekend ride 5/24 Most sit at home as Lockdown and Social distancing continue. The Moto in us calls those who ride, the freedom and adventure await, I checked FB and the timing was perfect, It was Randy's post a ride for 5/24, along with DOC. I' m hooked time for Bike adjustments on the juist in time for summer opener. It's a chance to get out and ride a group. 5/24 rolls around and a medium size group showed up for the ride, an day of two wheels, dirt , wind and sun. We received notice that Randy and Docs ride decided it needed some TLC after the ride the day prior, he sent an update to the group that he is unable to attend. That doesn't stop the Moto in Randy, he came out with DOC to make sure we were squared away and to send us off. This was mostly a new group of members and riders that showed. (It was great meeting you and DOC). Darren steps up and take lead, for the ride, we depart Alpine for some street and dirt fun. The Group follows , Darren's lead twisting the throttle like it was going out of style. As the group wist and turns through the area most had not been. I can see the riders cruise through the route with ease with views you would not have expected. About 1/2 way to Julian the group stopped to account for all at the Fork in the road. Darren looking like a kid at Christmas , a trail is open he was itching for the road less traveled. A trail open that is not always available he takes 5 of us with him. With a few of us in tow, we followed Darren twisting the throttle to Julian via dirt. Mountain views small creek crossings we have it all. We caught up with the rest of the Moto group, a few of us topped off some gas, sync with the others and then Darren got us together. Who wants to eat? Does a wild bear ...... He knows of a Taco shop, let's roll. We were off to the next trail, Darren on Rudolph the Red Honda, as he lit up with a grin at every twist of the throttle, leading us to trails and areas we never been or seen. We made it to the Taco shop for some long awaited human fuel. As we finished our meal and talked about the ride smiles were had by all. Comments and thanks to Darren on how great the route was , a few have it logged for future runs. If interested check with ( Kevin, Steve, Ono, Juan, Todd or Gary. Hope I got names right. ) We departed from food saying until the next ride tire side down , as we rode off. Thanks for the group run Adventure is always worthwhile Todd
  10. I have the bike running and I will be heading up tomorrow. Will be hitting some trails early to try and get my big bike skills and dirt legs back. Coming from NCounty coastal.
  11. Chris, Glad you had it covered and the fix was simple. It is always nice to have issues so close to home instead of the middle of nowhere. We could of wired the leads to the battery. What bike are you riding and where in Oceanside?
  12. These things are super handy so that you dont have to tear into the bike to charge the battery. https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwiU8OSngc3pAhWEhsAKHUqiDt8YABAWGgJpbQ&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESQeD2tmH6dJ1jppVIXPl0vHm9Nr_MUEiKQVCpBCB6aCOapM3Jy5JQyFYtd67BlFz1q5KRgo2KeZcaO1OqiYzS2Sqj&sig=AOD64_1BR-NQUNOqPIBrhr3IpdIXW3rbZw&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwiIhdungc3pAhVDPK0KHbNHDTwQ9aACegQIDRB5&adurl=
  13. Chris, are you stuck at the station or getting home?
  14. Holy smokes! I guess this ride just was not meant to be. Udo, I hope your wife is OK. I will be changing tubes today so I will be ready. I hope everyone's bike troubles are easy fixes.
  15. I busted my ass and worked on the 990 all day to go on this ride. Changed out the fuel pump and all the fuel/ air filters. Put it all back together and WILL NOT START. I had to tear it down again and pull the pump back out. Took it all apart and meticulously put it all back together. FIRED RIGHT UP! Rolled it out to fill the tires and found I have a leaking tube in the rear. NO ride for me, but the bike is running nice so I know I am close. https://www.facebook.com/mike.grudek/videos/10217312271338374/
  16. I created this so people who found good deals could pass them on during the sales event. I wanted to pass this along. I thought it was a pretty good deal. Klim Arsenal Vest- $114 normally $190 https://www.klim.com/Arsenal-Vest-4054-000 https://www.amazon.com/KLIM-4054-000-4054-000-000-330-Arsenal-Vest/dp/B01HH9VQLI
  17. I replaced both filters on my KTM 990 Adventure. I did have a Uni pre filter that disintegrated, but the bike was used and I suspect wrong oil caused the problem. I have replaced both the snorkel with a new Uni pre filter as well as a sock. I figured the sock would keep any wires that rubbed on the foam filter from tearing it. I also replaced the paper filter with a Uni filter ordered from CJ designs. CJ Designs ships them in from AU. This time I know the right oil is being used and I can see how long they last. I have a back up for each so I can replace right away without waiting to clean and dry the dirty ones. It should breathe much better.
  18. I did not know him. Condolences to his friends and family. RIP fellow rider. ANZA — A man killed when he lost control of his motorcycle while riding off-road south of Anza near the Riverside-San Diego County border was identified Tuesday as a 63-year-old resident of Sun City, Ariz. John Anthony Jardin was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was reported about 1 p.m. Saturday on an unmaintained dirt trail west of the Cooper Cienega Truck Trail, according to the California Highway Patrol. According to CHP officer Matt Napier, Jardin was riding with a group of friends when he was thrown from his dirt bike as it overturned. Due to the ruggedness of the terrain, a CHP helicopter was summoned to transport Jardin’s body to French Valley Airport in Murrieta, where the crew was met by Riverside County coroner officials.

Did Anyone Ride Some Dirt This Weekend ?

    Which bike where you riding?
  20. Not my day. I am glad I checked the air filters while I had the 990 tanks off. I just hauled but to get a o ring from Udo (thanks Udo) to get the new fuel pump together for a ride tomorrow. I purchased a uni filter for inside the air box to add to the uni pre filter. When I touched the pre filter it just disintegrated. I have never seen this. I dont know if maybe the previous owner used the wrong oil? Needless to say I will not be making the ride tomorrow.
  21. I need the large o ring that goes in the groove of the pump housing and seals the against the tank. I just ordered some, but the will not be here until monday. Doe anyone have one on hand? Thank you
  22. Dang. What motivation. I am trying to get the fuel pump fixed on the 990. If I can make it I will be doing some dirt but will be heading out that direction. Got to go back to work. Thank you.

    Looking for a used 500 exc f - questions

Sorry Tom I am keeping it. It will have its place. I have never had a " Modern" bike like this KTM and understand the only thing you really dont want to do is put a lot of freeway miles on it. I will keep the air cooled stuff so that I can not put so much wear and tear on this KTM where the freeway is a concerned.

That is what I thought. As close as I could get so that I would not have to put a bunch money into it. I am hoping the suspension will do. I cant afford to spend the money for the suspension right now.
