I think that FMX just goes to show that honda does not want to give up on that motor. I has been bullet proof. Lots of other countries use them like crazy because of the simplicity and durability. Honda makes alot of money on that. I would love to see them keep that motor, update with Fuel injection and HP hop ups. Maybe integrate the old Nx Kick and electric start(same motor) and add the xr 400 oil cooler. Then maybe upgrade the suspension. They will make this bike and it will be around for another 20 years.

The fact that the minor offenses of lifting the front wheel, misproperly attached tags carry the same fine as going 50mph over the speed limit is what confuses me.

I believe the Dakar 650 is a legal street bike. I dont think it needs to worry about any registration problems.

In reading the specs for the enduro bikes I found the compression to be very high. Could someone ask if regular fuel can be run in the f 800 and 650x with 12:1.

If riding from here, how long in total will the trip end up being? If riding from here, what type of tires will you guys be using considering the amount and type of offroading you want to do?

The 650l lives on. 17 years and running. That has to be the longest production run without modifiying.

I'd bet it's danm fun to ride, a real headturner for sure. It was always said that my old XR650L was a 50/50 on/off road bike. After sitting on a Husky 610 for a few days I'd have to say it's closer to 30/70. It is suprisingly smooth on road and it appears that it will be much more capable off road than the XRL although I've yet to ride it outside my neighborhood. There are a few guys here with KTM 640s and you're welcome to swing by for a lookie loo but I can't tell you anything about owning a 610, since I don't. So is it true Klroger gave you his 610?

I absolutely agree that FI is better than a carb. They just have not produced the right DS bike with FI yet. IF they had I am sure you would of bought it by now. I have ugraded my carb to the adjustable edelbrock, but it still has different issues. I would love to have FI on the L.

THis is a classic case of screwing someone. 99 percent of the time it wont be covered and you end up owing them for doing the work at some astronomical price! I was down there two weeks ago, and they gave me the slime ball impression as well. They are on my ignore list!

Bum that is a great idea. I would like to do something like that for a couple of my bikes. Where do I look for gel pads? The cheapest place I found was on ebay. People age getting rid of used ones all the time. You really dont care about the covers, so you can get them cheap. Ebay under "gel pad".

Buy a gel pad and have a local upholstry shop add it into your seat. If there is enough seat tucked under and stapled to the seat pan you dont even have to buy a new cover. When I did this to mine I had them shave the foam a little bit so it was a smooth under the seat cover. Depending on what gel pad you get, you can cut it so that it adds just a llittle width to your seat. It made a world of difference for my seat, and I think I had 70 dollar total into it.

Similar situation. Major surgeries when young. Took a swing a dentist who only had one of my arms tied down. I went to a dentist who does the sedation dentistry. He does a lot of sports guys. I took my wife to make sure I did not do something stupid while drugged. He gave me 4 of those pills. After 20 min I was still to conscious. His comment was " I have never given anyone 8 pills before, but here we go!" Did not remember much of the rest of the day! They should just dart my ass every couple of years like a wild animal.
