I am looking into wearing one of these. For those of you who wear one, can it be worn with the ogio vest?

Mike- I don't have one, but have seen enough of them (I have the vest) to think that you would have to pick one or the other... like the vest for DS rides, and the brace for track days

This is not a fact... just an opinion

You might also want to look at the Omega Brace. Different method to similar protection. I was a little concerned about all the lumbar fractures with impacts and the Leatt, but what really sold me on the Omega is the fit, comfort and adjustability of it. Just one man's opinion.

I dont know if I would use it on the average dualsport ride (would depend on comfort), but on the DD there is times you are 60+ mph over the sand. I would rather wear a brace now than a halo later!

Good info Jim. I have had back surgery already, dont need any more impact directed to it. Do you wear an ogio vest with the Omega. It seems to be a little bigger that the Leatt.

Yeah, there seems to be a rash of lumbar fractures due to the Leatt directing all the impact forces onto the lumbar spine or, if incorrectly fitted, onto and breaking the collarbones. But, that is not the main reason I wear it. I love how it feels, as it has a "strap" suspension system vice hard plastic. Much more comfortable as the straps, by function, fit over your upper torso exactly as it is shaped. The forces are never directed to your spine, but rather the upper torso. As mentioned, I don't think most people wear the Leatt correctly, leading to the collarbone breaks. Also, I haven't seen too many of the guys out at Superstition using the Leatt straps, but rather just letting it ride on their shoulders or chest/spine. The Omega has straps that you don't see in the picture that go around your chest. I also like how you can see down in the Omega vice not being able to in the Leatt.

As you can see, the Ogio slides under the Omega's brace area. (It would on my right except the Spot was blocking it). While the Ogio is empty (except for Spot), you can see that it fit comfortably with the Omega. I have worn the Omega with Acerbis Koerta body armor, and while you feel like the Terminator, it fits well with the Acerbis. I haven't worn the Omega, Ogio and Acerbis at one time, but I think it would work, if not bulky. I would wear both on a DS ride easily, but I also like to wear my armor. Like I said, haven't done all three, but that is mostly due to bulkiness and heat. Like the old song, two outa three aint bad.

I have the Ogio straps as tight as they will go to show how it would fit up under the Omega. I actually would wear it with the Ogio straps a little more loose. Very comfortable.

Supposedly Omega just announced/released a new brace, but I haven't followed it enough to really know what is going on. There are other braces on the market, and I looked at them all. I like how the Omega wore the best, and I also like the theory of force distribution.

Thanks for the pic Jim. The new Omega will be the X1. Looks like a little lower profile. In the pic it seems like the brace is tight/ rubs your neck. I think I am a little larger than you. Can these adjust for a larger neck?

Sorry for no reply for a while. Been kinda off the net for a bit taking care of some family issues.

Glad to hear you got the X1. I would be very interested in your review when you get it. The regular Omega does fit a little tight, but I've also put on about 50 lbs!! While it is tight on the skin, when I ride, I really don't notice it at all. It isn't like choke you tight, rather you just feel it on your skin.

Look forward to your review!

So I got the Omega X1 today. I tried it on with all the gear. Ballistic Jersey, X1, Ogio vest, and Helmet. I had it adjusted out to its limits(as everything else I wear). Fit snug with everything, but you feel like you added the last piece of protection. Still very good range of motion, but you can really see how it is going to help you in an accident.

Now I will have to go for a ride and give it the real world test.

I am shooting to have the nuetech tubliss set up for this weekend. Will get back with both reviews.
