While it's not a step by step, you can get an idea of what helps to have moved out of the way.

Neutral Sending Unit check Mine were fine, my son-in-law had one of the screws on his magnetic drain plug.

DR Wiki There's prolly a link to the E - manual on here for specific stuff.

If you ever do the NSU check (easier if you pull the clutch basket) or mess with disassembling your forks, I have the specialty tools if ya need 'em.

Happy reading!

K, dug out the manual. (and added to it)

1. Remove the right and left frame covers (plastics)

2. Remove the seat. (bolts accessible after removing the side covers - should just be one bolt on each side, slide the seat back from it's gas tank "slip in" mount)

3. Loosen the carb clamp screw (connecting the back of the carb to the airbox)

4. Disconnect the crankcase breather hose. (from the front of the airbox - kinda hard to get ahold of)

5. Remove the air cleaner (airbox in it's entirety) by removing the mounting bolts (should be 3 on top....possibly one on the right side of the bike - memory lapse)

6. Remove the rear shock by removing the mounting bolts. (note which hole the bottom bolt went thru. One is stock height, one is the "factory lowering" position - which may be blocked by a small metal tab held in place by the bottom bolt)

Dats it.
