AMA National Action Alert!

Omnibus Public Lands Bill to be Voted on Tomorrow!

Call your Representatives NOW!

The American Motorcyclist Association has been asking everyone to contact their Representatives to vote "No" on S. 22, the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009. After tracking the legislation and working with members of congress and their staff, we have been alerted that the legislation is set for a vote tomorrow, March 11th.

S. 22 will be coming up on the suspension calendar, meaning it needs more than 144 Congressman to vote "No" to be defeated. Now is when every contact counts.

With such a short time frame for action, the best way to tell your Representative to vote "No" on S. 22 is to call. Click here to get the phone number for your member of congress. Enter your zip code in the "Find Your Officials" box and click on the name of your Representative.

You can also find more information on the bill and some good reasons to help persuade your Congressman to vote "No" by clicking here.

Today is the day to act to help keep 2.1 million acres of public land from being designated as Wilderness. Please call your Representatives and tell everyone you can to do the same.

Tomorrow, every member of congress must know to vote "No" on S. 22!

I scanned the S.22 document. Most of the land protection and trail development projects were summed up with..

1) IN GENERAL- The Secretary of Agriculture, in consultation with interested parties, shall develop a plan to provide for enhanced nonmotorized recreation trail opportunities on lands not designated as wilderness within the (enter your favorite riding spot here) National Forest.

NON-MOTORIZED........

One trail alone has a development cost of $12 Million with $2 Million alone for the visitors center. Congress is requiring some sort of explanation if any projects exceed $250 Million...swell.

I'm all for enjoying the outdoors, but not exclusive of responsible motorized vehicle owners.

One benefit B) ....Bill Clinton's childhood home would become a national monument. It'd be nice to take my grandkids there and explain the man who grew up there got a hummer from his intern, lied to the world about it and never chased down the guys who kept bombing us around the world which is why your Daddy and Uncle are in Afghanistan right now. B)

Whatever your views, for no other reason....can we really afford this expansion of locking the gate to lands we all "own"....?????

Make the call.
