Roostingu, u can tailgate me with your camera. ShocknAwe

sure

Mimi I think maybe you should post directions out to the staging area, as I am usure of where it is exactly, I guess KL might be in afterall. :D If you want we can use my trailer to get out there if your truck is down. :D

You coming Christi?

I'll see if the truck takes a dump, today.

Does anybody who is going, not know how to get to Warner Springs? The entrance to Palomar divide trail is just a few miles north on 79 on the west side of the road.

From North San Diego County

Approximately 1 1/2 hours

78 East to the city of Escondido. 15 South to first exit on East Valley Parkway through Valley Center and Rincon Indian Reservation to Route 76 to Lake Henshaw. Left on Highway 79, then eight miles to Warner Springs.

From San Diego

Approximately 1 1/4 hours

North on Highway 15, exit at the Scripps Poway Parkway, go right. Turn left on Highway 67 which becomes Highway 78 in Ramona. Follow Highway 78 out of Ramona for about 15 miles to Dudley's Bakery in Santa Ysabel. Turn left on Highway 79. From Santa Ysabel it is 15 miles to Warner Springs Ranch on Highway 79.

If you need more directions than that, PM me.

I'm in!

I'll be riding from my house to the staging area (9 miles or so). Which is the end (or beginning) of S907 right? And it's right across from the Mustard Seed ranch right? Nearer to Sunshine Summit than Warner springs.

Will we be going up the Palomar divide? or just staging there?

What is the gas range requirement (since I won't have my gas can with me at staging)?

Christi,

As I understand it, we will be parking about 6 mi N of Warner Springs and taking Lone Valley, which is 4.4 miles south of there, up to Anza. Anza would be the first gas stop, at 33 miles. The next gas stop would be in Idyllwild, at a trip distance of 88 miles. Just staging at Palomar Divide.

Steve (trying to save DD's fingers for riding)

I could not find Palomar Divide Road until it was too late. I left an "Awe" marker. Fortunately, xxinsd was late in heading out so we met up in Warner Springs and went up Lost Valley Road and back out to 78. It was a nice, quick ride with beautiful scenery. Then we had lunch at the casino. Xxinsd went home because he had dual sported 50 miles to meet with me and had no gear for desert riding. I went to Amago since it was so close and always have a good time there.

In the future, it would be helpful to provide specific directions to the staging ground. SteveO was correct that it was 4.4 from Lost Valley Rd. However, there was only a sign for this road from the northerly direction; they don't call it "Lost Valley Rd" for just any reason. Worse, there is no prominent sign for Palomar Divide Road. So without a mile marker, GPS coordinates, or specific directions, it is easy to pass if u have never been there before. It might help to assume the person has not been there when giving directions.
