bikeslut 1 Posted September 29, 2006 crickets...crickets... uh... there will be some of you there, right? 8:30 near S1 and 79. Any of the OB guys coming up? if so, pipe in, and maybe we can meet at the Valero in Alpine for the rest of the ride up. we can take the Viejas Grade up to 79... papaalex 5 Posted September 30, 2006 Bikeslut and others, I like the idea to pick up more dirt before 79XS1. From Alpine, we can take Viejas Grade to Descanso, then take Boulder Road (13S08) to the forest fire station and from there tweasty Engineers Road down 79 at Cuyamaca lake 2 miles from S1. About 50 % of this route is dirt and good option for people coming from San Diego, but it will add 45 minutes before we get to 79XS1. If we do it, time and place to meet??? Is the main plan to ride Anza Borrego? See you all tomorrow
bikeslut 1 Posted September 30, 2006 How about 7 at Valero, or 7:10 at West Willows exit? I'm on a DRZ. That'll be enough time to get there by 8:30, right? I got the impression that John was looking North, not East.
papaalex 5 Posted September 30, 2006 What is Valero? 7:00-7:15 AM should be fine , lets make sure we do not repeat "Two Packards" story

carguy 1 Posted October 1, 2006 papaalex Posted on Sep 30 2006, 05:03 PM Carguy, will we do anything difficult, I'm thinking of chest protector? see all tomorrow You should always ride with and bring all the gear you think you might need always.Difficulty is measured by each person. Could be difficult for me and easy for you. We are exploring!

bikeslut 1 Posted October 3, 2006 Iwouldn't consider this a ride report, but it was fun. Paaplex, Motobro and I met at the Chevron Station in Alpine, then headed up the Viejas Grade. Mildly dusty road for a few miles, with some awesome views of the casino and valley. In to Descanso, we took Oak Canyon or something paved Road down to another dirt road for a few miles... far more enjoyable way to ascend to the pines. Then Engineers Road down to the meeting place. After some S-1 and Banner Grade twisties, we went to Rodriguez, Chariot, Oriflamme Etc. Nice mix of rider skills, and speeds. Some dirt, some sand and some rrrrrrrocks as we approached Mason Valley Truck Trail or something. The group split up then, with Sandiegoland, Carguy and Paaplex proceeding on... The rest of us headed back another dirt trail. It was a little dusty, but as before. Motobro and ste63 clogging my air filter back up to the hi way. (ste63- I was pulling sand out of my gums) No mechanicals to speak of (overheated rear brake on a bike at one point) and no injuries as far as I heard. Great group of guys to ride with... after the baby is born, i'll be back out there. Put the new Dunlop 952's on last night. should hook up great!
