Hooters on Scooters

Recommended Posts

IT WAS INCREDIBLE.

What a great way to spend four days. Riding through Baja is fabulous.

Let me just say that you can't get this experience on your own (most people anyway).

Tim Morton, the Baja Bound Tour operator, knows the most top secret trails and single track there is. Many of them he made himself. And they were no cake walk!!! Much of it was 6" wide in shoulder high brush with loose rocks and off camber turns. CRAZY stuff. But, I am happy to report I made it through without incident--barely. Though I was mentally drained after one of them. And I certainly wasn't graceful about it.

Other riding included winding two track through valleys, rocky stream beds, hard pack and super rain rutted roads, many elevation changes, some long sandy roads, some forest trail, beaches, rocky hill climbs. And of course some wide open stuff where my hand started to hurt from holding the throttle open so long.

And the food!!!! OMG! I think I gained five pounds on this trip. Each meal stop was some of the best food I have had. One place even served chicken cordon bleu. It was a five star place in my book.

I have about a hundred pictures that I will post next week in the gallery and some here. Unfortunately the photos are not indicative of what we rode on most of the day. Because I certainly wasn't able to stop in the middle of most of the single track to take a photo. I was too busy tying not to crash! Photo opportunities only arose during the breaks between the gnarly stuff. But the scenery is great.

Baja Bound is truly the best way for an intermediate to expert rider to ride Baja! They have novice rides too. :)

Stay tuned for more.

It's quite a feat to get those kinds of "accurate" photos on ride reports! It's often we get good shots with the groups because a rider that gets ahead can lie in wait for a good shot. Others have to be pretty fast fingers to retrieve the camera for a shot on the fly.

Enjoy the ride first... your report will not suffer!
