Ride-Orange 2 Posted August 14, 2006 ...and if you missed it, we missed you Judging from the amount of food and beer that was leftover, I would say a good time was had by all. A special thank you to Rad for bringing some silver and red reinforcmenets, just in the nick of time. Our mates started arriving at the Ranchito around 09:30 with carguy and Kaw'ee checking-in first. Then along came Tree and Vince, then woodys3b, and last was my pal Jonny Boat Racer. We were outa there a little after 10:00 and met up with 2 wheels at the intersection of Lyons Valley and Skyline/Honey Springs. From there it was a short trip on the tarmac to the bottom of the Lawson Peak trail. I only got a few photos, but here they are... Here's a shot from about half-way up showing some of the burned area of the "Horse Fire" from a couple of weeks ago This is Tree and Vince with Lawson peak in the background and here's looking the other way at woodys3b and Kaw'ee We were waiting for 2 wheels (who it turned-out had suffered some blinker damage at the hands of the tricky Lawson Peak trail) and carguy who was sweeping (maybe you can spot them in this looong shot). Jonny Boat Racer had taken-off like a rocket ahead of us and we found him waiting ahead. After we passed Lawson Peak and started heading for Carvacre, I stopped for a couple of live shots. I like this one of Kaw'ee starting to huck a bitchen brodie We stopped again to check-out more scenery. Here's Jonny, Tree, Ride-Orange's Ride (it's the empty orange one), carguy, woodys3b, Vince, and 2 wheels. I think I cut-off Kaw'ee, but that's why I posted the bitchen brodie picture above (sorry Kaw'ee). We were looking at the beautiful view of Barrett Lake from this vantage Point. After we hit pavement at Japatul Rd. we turned left and started looking for Sycuan Truck Trail. We found it and headed up. Here's a cool view of the Sycuan lair with Singing Hills golf course in the background. Back on the asphalt again at Sycuan casino, it was time to hot foot it for the cold beers at the Ranchito. It was a short 45 mile ride but a really pretty day, clear as a bell and not too hot. I hope we can get as good or better a turn-out for next month's Q... Who's hosting??!! woodys3b 0 Posted August 14, 2006 Rob,Thanks for a great day. Somehow I remember that trail being a lot steeper and more rocky than it looks in the pictures Wish I could have stayed for some BBQed chicken but I had "honey do's" at home and barely was able to make the ride.Andy

Kaw'ee 10 Posted August 15, 2006 It was a smaller turn out than we expected.... a picture is worth a thousand lies..... Except for me and johns early morning ride, on the border road to tecate, you can mix in the rest of the pictures in with robs story, hummm that gives me an idea ? After getting to tecate we saw this huge mountain with repeaters high atop above tecate, so this was a no brainer, So up we went, this is half way up looking back down to tecate. And this is the top looking west at the otay peak.. On the road into robs we went by this mailbox, and thinking that was pretty cool Untill we got to robs house. I guess he gets more mail.??? We were outa there a little after 10:00 and met up with 2 wheels at the intersection of Lyons Valley and Skyline/Honey Springs. From there it was a short trip on the tarmac to the bottom of the Lawson Peak trail. We were waiting for 2 wheels (who it turned-out had suffered some blinker damage at the hands of the tricky Lawson Peak trail) and carguy who was sweeping the dirt with his bike. (maybe you can spot john in this close up ). After we hit pavement at Japatul Rd. we turned left and started looking for Sycuan Truck Trail. We found it and headed up. heres 2wheels missing 2blinkers... We stopped again to check-out more scenery. Here's Jonny, Tree, Ride-Orange's Ride (it's the empty orange one), carguy, woodys3b, Vince, and 2 wheels. I think I cut-off Kaw'ee, but that's becouse he's taking the picture We were looking at the beautiful view of Barrett from this vantage Point. after hes had one to many beers. It was time to hot foot it for the cold beers at the Ranchito. It was a short 45 mile ride but a really pretty day, clear as a bell and not too hot. Heres where i caught rob making out with the chicken.. then we partyed on the patio till we ran out of beer, and that funny taste'n chicken.. A special thank you to Rad for bringing some silver and red reinforcmenets, just in the nick of time. Kurt, wanted to ride back with me and john on the border road to campo, just to get a little more ride time in for the day. but we had to stop in tecate for a quick splash n go. But then it was time to head for home, ... Kurt went west... .....And I went east... ............ANOTHER GOOD RIDE, YOU SHOULD HAVE WENT.............. ............ANOTHER GREAT DAY, THANKS FOR HOSTIN ROB............. 2Wheels 0 Posted August 15, 2006 After that write up by Kawee, I don't know what to say - other than .... Where do I find blinkers that won't break? Oh, and thanks R.O. for hosting a great BBQ and a great ride.
carguy 1 Posted August 16, 2006 BBQ2 All of our rides are Great! This one was no exception. Kaw'ee and I started from the East county west down the border road. We went to Tecate and decieded to go up Tecate Peak. Sometimes you have to stop and take it all in. When you do a early morning ride like this it feels like you are on top of the world. Then things change. Check "Important Issues" for more, Dulzura Hookup at Ranchito Ride Orange and ride some more. 2Wheels Posted on Aug 14 2006, 11:04 PM Where do I find blinkers that won't break? From Honda! (simpathy crash) I seem to always end up on my feet with this large backpack. Back to Rob's (or is it RON?) house for Food, BEER, Swimming Pool and movie stars. Our President was kind enough to join our BBQ. It is always good to get info from the source. Ride Orange, Excellent BBQ Thanks for hosting. Who is NEXT? Kaw' ee, great post!! I have more pics, didn't want to kill the rest of us "Dial Ups"
