Remove that power limiter from your KTM

Recommended Posts

Rottweiler posted this recently: How to remove the limiter from your KTM 990/950 ADV  Interesting...

So you've heard about how 990 KTM's have a 'power limiter' in 1st and 2nd gear, but not sure what that is? Purportedly your 990 retards the timing a bit in the first two gears to keep from wheely'ing or something to that effect. Well, that is NO FUN, so most people in the know remove two wires from the shift sensor. This is easily done with a small pick by depressing the tang in the plug and simply removing the party killing wires from the housing and taping them up.

The plug can be found just in front of the shift lever and under the engine and the wires will be coming out of the same area to this 3 way plug. Remove the two wires shown from the engine side and leave the green wire. (This is your neutral indicator for the dash) The other two are simply gear indicators and do not have any negative effects unless you don't like power, in which case you have landed on the wrong FaceBook page.

This stuff is old news to allot of KTM veterans but we had a recent picture of it and though we'd post it for the ones who can't stand pouring over forums.

Was going to link the original article but it wasn't in their main site, just their FB site.

Appears to work on several KTM models.

Let us know how it goes. Mine is good enough as is.
