This effects one of our San Diego OHV areas. It was already on the BLM list to be closed shortly. Post if you have any details about specific boundaries of the fire...=====UNION-TRIBUNEJuly 21, 2006DULZURA – A fast-moving fire roared across Sycamore Canyon east of the Lower Otay Reservoir, sending flames in three directions yesterday before its spread was halted. The fire started about 11 a.m. and grew to 400 acres by mid-afternoon, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. About 200 firefighters from 20 engine companies and six ground crews fought the blaze, backed by four air tankers, five helicopters and a bulldozer.Officials said it was apparently caused by an illegal campfire that grew out of control. No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened. However, the most worrisome of the fire's fringes was headed north toward state Route 94 and the community of Dulzura.Firefighters positioned units to keep the flames south of the highway, said CDF spokeswoman Roxanne Provaznik. She said crews had contained the fire by 6 p.m. and expected full control today. The area was last burned during the Otay fire of 2003 and has since been covered with light grasses, she said.
