Uncle Champ 116 Posted July 24, 2015 Hey anybody here in to archery? My daughter wants a simple bow and arrow set for her 20th birthday, I know next to nothing about archery. Advice? She is 6 ft and athletic. Dad who has made mistakes before. Thanks.
Bp619 104 Posted July 24, 2015 I don't know of simple setup and I just got into it but my buddies uncle is Bruce owner of bow and arrow shop in lakeside himm and his staff is super honest and straight forward, they will let you test out a couple brands and even told me personally to go one step cheaper than what my budget allowed just do to being a beginner and skill level
Czechsix 1 Posted July 24, 2015 Yep, best bet is to go to a pro tackle shop and first get properly fitted from someone that knows what they're doing. Then go and start trying different bow setups as they suggest...she'll be much better off going this route than just randomly trying things out. There's a great tournament every Father's Day in Balboa Park...the King Arthur tournament...plenty of fun, she should attend next year!

karlaeda 0 Posted July 24, 2015 I got mine few years ago at Performance Archery. http://www.performancebowhunting.com The owner there explained a lot about picking the correct bow, arrows, stance, etc. They have a range indoors too so that you can try it on the spot. bradwill 4 Posted July 24, 2015 I can also recommend http://www.bownarrowshop.com/in Lakeside. My brother-in-law is into bow hunting and frequent there. They set me up with a bow as well (that I've only used a few times).
