Braaap with wifey around Silverado Canyon OC

Recommended Posts

First photo is up off Hwy 74 in secret spot with my brother-he has the 08 450 EXCR-great bike. Rode 108 miles-tons of fuel left with my 4.1 gallon Acerbis. Heading up steep trail full of pine straw-cones and rocks and got pitched into side-Handguard mount got forced into plastic edge of throttle and throttle froze-loosened throttle mount and slid over a few cm's., back on the trail. Few small patches of snow left up there and the bark from the trees still smells like vanilla-went to radio tower area on top of Santa Rosa-easy fun fast ride to top and back.

Next pics are short ride earlier today around the Silverado Canyon/Irvine Lake area in South OC up near the 241 toll road. Needed to get wife out and get some time up to speed on asphalt and hit some mild trails.

Top Of Maple that starts trail up to Divide Road is closed until Nov 15, 2015 if there are no fires or biblical rains-talked to a friendly ranger. Silverado is a funky little town with only a slight The Hills Have Eyes feel to it.

We parked at the BlackStar Canyon entrance which is OC Parks and not National Forest.

Cruised up to Silverado then back down and went to Cooks Corner, took the left and headed through Silverado Canyon drive then took gravely fire road up to Holy Jim.

Lots of peeps out enjoying the day.

KTM and Honda ran great-wife was smiling ear to ear-thats a good sign...

Hope everyone had a great riding weekend.

Very nice! I haven't ridden to the towers in a few years. Thx for the reminder.

best bet Trophy is up 74 then take left at Divide Road to towers-all the trails that start off Silverado Canyon are closed but im optimistic they will reopen Nov this year. Fun to come back the same way jump over 74 and hit Wildomar or keep going past Tenaja Falls and toward Clinton Keith-nothing technical for sure but it makes the wife grin...
