kato 54 Posted January 28, 2014 It happened. Jon (97xr400r) and I have logged a few dirt and desert miles together this past year or so, glad I was part of his first dirtbiking trip in the peninsula as well. Only took what, 6 months to convince him to go. I think he agrees now that it was worth it. Went down Compadre to Ojos, gas and refreshment, back up through Laguna Hanson where he got a little taste of baja: rocks, woops, that big rusty nail, rocks, rocks, newly locked gate, rocks, sand, muddy crossings.. and beauty, always and everywhere you look. left at dawn, back at dusk. 97xr400r 122 Posted January 28, 2014 Wow, it really is like going back in time. Once we hit dirt (after 30min of hidden alto signs) there was a definite feel to the place, OPEN country, raw, waay oldschool. In the US I find myself longing to get to areas that have this "feel", rarely do I find it. What a difference a line makes! I truly had a feeling of being transported back in time, 150 years maybe? Truly enjoyed the experience thanks to a great tour guide, THANKS for dragging me down there Kato! nice place to fix a flat pit stop under a giant palapa while a friendly local transports a harvest, what a cool scene! un-attended smoldering brush fire all the while. (at one point it burst to flames, I walked over and played fire man). "If this was the US there'd be 3 fire trucks, haha"- Kato adobe grill by the bike lift. coyote cruzing the dry laguna hanson, beautiful scene. the guide... does that sign mean that way to cervezas, or, hangin loose in baja? checkin the mapa. JUST GO!
