The Summer is now over but it's still beautiful and warm in the San Diego area. But now the desert is becoming more accessible. This means those GS' are going to be carving up the canyons and trails. Get yourself ready for the Fall riding season by stopping in and seeing how we can set you and your steed up.

Oktoberfest Open House, Oct 8

This weekend in Munich, Germany, the Oktoberfest wrapped up at the home of BMW. To celebrate this, we will be holding our own Oktoberfest Celebration on the showroom floor. Of course we will have Bratwurst,Sauerkraut and German Potato Salad - the staple of any Oktoberfest. But instead of beer, you'll be able to consume copious amounts of one-day only specials from the Parts Department.

These will include :

Up to 40% off on select, in-stock helmets

All summer gear up to 20% off

Buy 1 selected T-Shirt, get another free

Enter to win a $500 gift card by signing up for the Holiday Season Gift Registry

If you register for the Holiday Season Registry, we will assist you in compiling a list of gifts you would like to receive, and will have your sizes and bike information on hand. Then we will work with family and friends to pick out the items that will put a smile on your face, as well as ensure that you will not receive any duplicate items. What do you buy the person that is too hard to buy for ? It's easy when we have the list at San Diego BMW Motorcycles.

Lunch will be served at noon, but bagels and donuts will be available in the morning. And free soda will be available all day long.

I'll see you there, behind the BBQ !

Another Record for our S1000RR

Last year, Andy Sills borrowed our bone stock S1000RR Demonstrator, rode it to Bonneville, Utah and set a World Record in the 1000cc Production class by going over 195mph.

But he wasn't content with that, so last week, Andy and Erin Hunter, a speed record holder in her own right, borrowed the same bike to attempt to set a speed record for two-up riding. And to show that there is skill in being both the rider and the passenger, they exchanged positions in each opposite run; Andy riding and Erin being the passenger, and then Erin riding and Andy being the passenger.

On a solo test-run, to see what the bike is capable of in it's current configuration (Leo Vince slip-on pipe and change in sprocket ratios), Erin rode the bike to 185mph. Riding two-up, they set a record of more than 183mph !

Congratulations Andy and Erin on being World Record Holders !

Hello, Goodbye!

People's lives always take different twists and turns, and we always hope that the path they ride ends them up where they want to be. Sadly, we have had to say goodbye to two Staff Members over the last few weeks. Cary Littell, who took over the Parts Manager position when Sean DeAngelis left for BMW Motorcycles of Atlanta at the beginning of the year, has moved to Australia (my old stomping ground !). In his place, we have brought in Daniel Aponte. Daniel has a lot of experience in the automotive industry, but this is his first time as a Parts Manager.

At the same time that Cary left, Tony DeAngelis left the Service Department for BMW Motorcycles of Cleveland. Tony was from Ohio originally and decided to return. I guess he prefers the snow of the winter to the sun of the summer. It seems we train everyone to go make other dealerships better. It's an honor to have had these people work with us.
