I'll see you guys Thurs morning if it's OK for one more to tag along, Kirk
  4. Dhillr I just saw this, I'm currently camped out in n ocotillo wells and would be up for a more spirited pace if you're still wanting to ride tomorrow. Kirk

    Radios and bike-to-bike com systems

The cables are different, no idea if the program would work. If someone wants to lend me their BaoFeng & cable I can see if my FTB270 program will talk to it.
  6. I'm available that weekend if you still need volunteers. I can do whatever is needed. I've got a 4x4 truck, I can ride sweep( I have radios in both and a ham license if communications are needed). If you've got enough bodies I'll just sign up and ride! Kirk.
  7. Looks like a fun way to break in the new tire, unfortunately my truck died today so I'll try to get my other vehicle with bumper carrier going.
  8. If I can get Friday off from work I'm there. Looks like some great riding!

Bump, I've got my license now! WooHoo! I can't wait for the next ride I do with you guys. I had to do some minor modifications to my helmet to make the speakers fit comfortably. I'll probably get an extra body harness/ptt/mic-earbud setup for when riding with a buddy with no helmet kit. I think I'm going to get a few of the cheaper helmet kits and some frs/gmrs radios for the kids and wife for family rides also, should work ok for that use. Kirk.

    LAB2V 2012

Epic is the word. I had fun riding with you, a little less dust and it would have been perfect. Kirk.
  11. Bacchussd sounds good! I've tried to email but no response. Give me a call 858 xxx 5087 or xxxxx@cox.net FuzzyNuggs I'm concerned with time on this long of a ride and a slow-med pace. I'd prefer to stay in the med-fast range so as to avoid pavement bailouts to stay ahead of the darkness. There are a few folks at district37ama.com in the "I Need a Riding Buddy for LAB2V" thread that are riding big bikes at a more leisurely pace that you'd probably mesh well with if nobody else shows up here. Kirk.
  12. Been pretty quiet... Anybody still looking for a riding partner? Intermediate rider Moderate-Fast pace 520 EXC Would prefer hard routes Ate 58 Two 43- Five 087 Fairly experienced Dual Sporter with some tools/stuff/gps/roll chart exp and a radio and should have a chase vehicle with radio as well Anyone....? Kirk.
  13. I would love to have a group of SDAR riders! How many of us are there gonna be? If we have enough we could split into smaller groups to keep it manageable if necessary. Have got a radio and will have a chase vehicle also with radio. Who's in?! Kirk.
  14. Don't know, but you might ask strega, I think he helps D37 with the tracks etc..... so he could be a good source of info? and who to talk to about the early email.. I just tried my phone outside in the sunlight, that won't work. A new GPS is on the way. Kirk.
  15. Does anyone know if there is a way to get the tracks before the ride? I'm toying with the idea of using a GPS app on my phone in a rugged case. I don't have a way to import them using the typical Garmin Mapsource. Can they email them to you the morning of the ride? Anyone else using their phone? I love the new Montana but an app on my phone could give me similar functionality for a lot less cash. Thanks. Kirk.
