  1. Hey guys, I've not been long on this forum, but I won't be doing any more off-road riding for several reasons. Which means that by beloved Tuareg 660 is up for sale in Rancho Santa Fe, CA It has only 200 miles plus change on it, so it hasn't even been broken in or had its first service. On the Road price was $15,199.86. I am asking $9950 for it. It's almost brand new, 200 miles, taxed through Feb 25 and a couple of accessories added in too. These are GPS mount for Garmin XT (note the Garmin itself isn't included, just the mount which is hard-wired into the switched power supply Hepco-Becker Crashbars SW-Motech SYS panniers and mounting bracket GP-Corse gear lever to fix a celebrated design flaw with the OEM The bike was lowered by 35 mm with the lowering kit on purchase, and can be returned to normal ride height easily. In the pictures is the low-height seat (check my name) but I include the original seat in the sale. Heated grips. I also removed the passenger footrests as I don't take pillions but I have these and all other removed parts, included in the price. The lowering kit and heated grips were installed by the dealer. The rest was by me and is described here: https://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?375365-Slowpoke-Shorty-s-Farkling-Thread&highlight=Slowpoke Email me at markgnicholson (at) gmail.com, or call me on 425 591 1177. I live in an area with poor cell reception so phone often just goes straight to VM. Email is best. Here are some pictures taken today: GPS not included, mount only GPS not included, mount only 218 miles as of today!

    First Aid 2023

I see the topics in this sub-forum are quite old, so I'm starting a new one. I was out on a road ride yesterday with a bunch of other guys/gals and one of our number came off. Fortunately neither he nor his passenger were badly hurt, but the wind was definitely knocked out of them and they were kind of disoriented for about 20 mins. We called it in, and the paramedics did a great job of assessing them and making a sling for the lady's arm. A close call but no worse than that. I realized that all I (and the rest of the group) could do was be well-intentioned, call it in, manage traffic around the scene and get out of the way of the first responders. I wouldn't have been able to provide any aid in the 15 minutes or so it took of the paramedics to arrive. If real injuries occurred, none of us could have done much more than watch, and we'd probably make it worse. Are there any classes around here for first aid?

Caselli Foundation - Riders 1st Responders First Aid Class

Thanks for this @Goofy Footer! I made a $25 donation and added their link to my calendar, but I'm not sure if I have actually registered or not. I guess I can always just turn up and demand to speak to the manager 😀

    Noob Clothing advice

Hi, I'm just getting into ADV riding and have a lot of experience and kit for road riding. I have a good pair of boots for off-roading, but what would y'll recommend as a good set of clothing for the SoCal area? Also good dealers for off-road gear? - Mark

    New Bike Day

Well, after lots of good talk on this forum, I finally have my new bike for Adventure riding: an Aprilia Tuareg 660: I have a two-day training session with MotoVentures next week, then I shall be up for trying out those Noob-friendly trails!

    Seat Customizer Needed

When I lived in Seattle I had easy access to the excellent Rich's Custom Seats for anything from minor mods to whole new seats. Wonderful place. Does anyone know of anything in this area? San Diego would be nice, but I could make the trip uo to LA if needed. -Slowpoke

    First Aid 2023

That would be great! I don't intend to be a paramedic, just not feel totally useless when something bad happens. Also happy to pay for training.

    Slowpoke Shorty Joining In

Hi. my name is Slowpoke Shorty and I've just joined this site. I've been a biker all my adult life, and am now 64. I moved to San Diego from Seattle when I retired, and I want to start getting off-road. My current bikes are a 2018 Goldwing DCT and a Triumph Bonneville Bobber, so I'm not going off-road on those anytime soon. I'm looking at things like the Himalayan, KTM 390 Adventure, CB500X, Aprilia Tuareg. As my handle implies I'm vertically challenged, with a 28" inseam. I'm pretty used to riding bikes that are too big for me as a result, but some adv bikes are just way too big for me. The Tuareg for example has a 33.8 seat height which is just about doable, although I'd use a lowering kit if/when I buy one. Open to any/all suggestions about off-roading with short legs. - Mark

I should add that as a noob to the area I know San Diego has plenty of great off-road trials, but I'm a bit short on specifics. Is there a thread here that lists the most popular trials and areas?
