Message sent to the husky for sale here. I need a bike and my dad needs a bike. Fingers crossed...

Going tomorrow to check this one out https://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/mcy/d/2004-husqvarna-tc-450/6571693585.html

What about the wr250? https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/mcy/d/2001-wr-250f-plated/6569845813.html I am just trying to build my kowledge base. I would be a little hesitant to go with a 250 as opposed to a 400. Would a newer 250 be able to hang on longer desert rides? By measuring bar is the desert dash

Thanks for the leads!!! I made a $2500 offer on the tc450... he said if he still has it in a few weeks he will sell it for $2500! Fingers crossed...

https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/mcy/d/2005-husqvarna-tc-450-street/6567008998.html thoughts? Never mind, I must be tired... I thought it said $2300 not $3200... back to searching

Ok here is the update, I went over to my parents house and was talking to my dad about what bikes we are interested and he said he doesn’t NEED an electric start. Although it would be preferred he doesn’t want it to hinder getting a nice, well set up bike. So, we are open to most any 400cc plus dual sport in the $2000-$2500 range. If you told me about about a specific bike earlier in this thread I will be sending you a PM to see if it is still available! Thanks again for your help and if you know of a bike for sale, send it my way!

I am not completely sold on a drz, it just seems to be in my price range more readily than others. I am open to any bike in the $2000-$2500 range. I would prefer electric start but not necessary. The bike for my dad it is mandatory. For me I could probably get away without it if is a easy kick to start. I like the XR400 also or an older KTM, like I said I am open just not very knowledgeable in what is going to be reliable and fun. Thanks for all of you help!!

here are some options, what do you all think? Both have electric start https://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/mcy/d/2006-drz400s-yoshimura-desert/6567680767.html https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/mcy/d/suzuki-drz-400/6563309922.html

I agree, I was able to talk to him more but wouldn’t ever answer me with a direct answer. I wished him good luck on the sale... Thanks for the support!!

Here is one that I was eyeing on craigslist https://sandiego.craigslist.org/esd/mcy/d/suzuki-drz-400e/6560542721.html It does not run... he said he was riding it last year and it started to "bogg down" after that he stopped riding it and it hasnt started since. It turns over but will not srat. What are some options for a no start? I definitely will not be offering him the $2500 he asking. If it is clean and seems like it wont take much to fix the no start I will go check it out. I am asking all of you (the experts) on all things drz400, it is a 2004

Both TWs are SOLD!!!!!! Ok it is not time to officially buy another bike!! I think we have both decided on a DRZ400e. With being vertically challenged we decided that if we got in a situation on a hillside or some other place where it is hard to put our foot down the electric start would be very handy!!! So the official search for a good running DRZ400e has begun. If you know of one or an equivalent let me know!! We have an official budget also. We both have a maximum of $2300 to spend. It might be tuff but I think we can find something!! Again thanks for you help!!!
-
I didn’t... I got a few more emails today so we will se where that goes. i saw that one, there is also one in la Mesa with electric start I would buy today if the TWs sold!

The majority of our rides will be 50 miles or less with a few times a year 50-100 to include the desert dash. Thanks for the good info! I had a project car I sold today and the Mrs allowed a few bucks from that to go to the “new” bike so instead of having to hover around $2000 I will be closer to $2500 which might help get at least a better quality bike. Instill have to sell my TW first! I have someone coming to check out my dad’s bike in the morning so hopefully that goes well!
-
I could not agree more, thank you! We have a great time spending time together, we both have very busy lives and try to ride at least once a month during "riding season" We would also like to undertake multiple day rides/camping with the "new" bikes. We are not trying to be anything special on a motorcycle, just have fun on a motorcycle. We have a big trip planned in Utah this summer and would like to have the "new" bikes with some decent seat time before we head up there.

Thank you all for your suggestions!!! I have someone interested in my dads bike (blue one) this Saturday. Fingers crossed the guys picks it up! Then I will just need to sell mine ( red one) I was talking with my dad and I think a bike with an electric start is what will work best for him. Not a complete necessity, but probably the best option. For me I think I like the xr400 or xr250 is where I am leaning towards. The 250 sounds like a great bike but one of the main reasons I am upgrading is so for the few times we do a bigger desert ride I think I will want the xr400. Could a 250 punched out to a 280 hand pretty good for longer desert rides? Either way, it is all just a dream until the TWs are sold. I see all these bike coming through on craigslist and the ones you are posting for me and it is torture!!! I wish we had the TWs sold!! Thanks again for all of you help and suggestions!! It is a huge help in narrowing down the search.

Here they are, I am open to offers. Thanks!!! https://sandiego.craigslist.org/esd/mcy/d/tw200/6556811108.html

Is it automatic or do I need to inform someone? I had a $14 PayPal balance and just donated it yesterday. I guess I’ll do another $6 and start a regular contribution
-
That is the way I was leaning towards, just wanted to confirm I was thinking right. Although it may seem like a fun trade I think over all I would be happier with a drz or xr Thanks! The quest continues! I really need someone to buy my TW! My dads is also up for sale. Help me find someone to buy them! How much is needed to donate to be able to post in the for sale section?

Anyone else have experience with these or opinions?

My biggest concern is the seat height, per the magical internet, is 2" taller than an xr/drz. It does come with the 2" lowering kit but that still puts it at 36" with my 30" inseam... The reason I am interested is because it is a trade, one transaction and done.
-
I have a guy who wants to trade me a 99 yz400f player in CA. He wants the TW for his wife. It is his back up bike and has a few upgrades, bigger tank, “easy start” cam, 2” lowering kit... What do guys think?
-
I am not sure if this is "legal" but here is a link to my TW200. If posting the link is not allowed, I will take it down ASAP!!! https://sandiego.craigslist.org/esd/mcy/d/yamaha-tw200/6547315056.html The rotopax mount and tank can be had for the right price with the purchase of the bike. Thanks again for all the help from everyone, I need this TW sold!!! I am ready to bump up!

please pm me more detail, thanks!!

That converted SM isn’t bad, looks pretty hammered though... Thanks for posting it!!!
