    is El Nino media hype?

Anybody know if El Nino was anywhere near Laguna Hanson last week? We were down there on the 5th, forecast of rain for 6th..heading thru there to Cals this Wednesday.
  4. Good riding with you again Jim. Troy, if you're reading this you need to get down there ASAP! Saw a couple bikes heading out of town, they pulled off at a Pemex as we continued on. Only ran into one locked gate...like Jim said I almost ran into a 10 yr old helmet-less kid on a quad but didn't get any video of it. GoPro didn't catch the 3ft rain rut that tried to swallow Jims 250 but I got some still shots of the log hopping, water crossing good times.
  5. I might be in...if there's still room for one more. Have a ride to Mikes planned, but would like to try something different.

    I want a 450!

If the rear paddle is the only tire he has, I personally would stay away from a dunes-only bike. Too much abuse imo. I would take a 450X over the R just so I can have e-start, light and kickstand. WR would be at the top of my list, very reliable and not bulletproof but bullet resistant.
  7. Right on! We can stop at a dentista in Tecate and confirm your tires cargo with a quick X-ray.

    Radio License Class 02-April

Who said there's no such thing as a free lunch?? Good on you for motivating everyone! I would take you up on offer but I got my license August last year.KK6VZJ
  9. Roger that. So, I'm a complete baja noob as you're about to see. I know there's Ramona's, Mike's, Coyotes ... from what I understand Coyotes in on the coast and Mikes / Ramonas is a little more inland and elevated ... up in a pine forest, right? Can you give me an idea for mileage from Tecate to Ramona's and back via the Pines and RSV? And, what does RSV mean? I've heard of the 'Compadre Trail', but not RSV. I'll look for tracks on the forum to see if that'll give me an idea. Troy, I'm putting together those tracks for you. RSV=Rancho Santa Veronica...east of Tecate. Once you see the tracks and waypoints put together everything will make sense. The one day ride is a good intro/area familiarization ride. I'll be doing that ride.
  10. Jim, you lead and I'll sweep? I wanna take that technical trail that bypasses some of Compadre....not crazy technical, just more technical than Compadre.
  11. March 5-6 would work for me. I have GPS tracks, radio, tools and insatiable thirst for Pacificos.

    Pinyon and Beyond

Great pics! It's always so much better when you're the one making the first set of tracks in epic riding conditions!
  14. Yup! Isn't it funny how some bikes just look destined to be baja bikes

Adding an anti-rattle hitch pin will also help. I use this one http://www.hitchrider.com/hitch-vise-gm-2.htm

Here's another option...not sure if it's a knockoff or if the no pinch copied this one. www.kauritmoto.com www.tiremountingtool.com
