  1. SUPER FUN, bucket list type of ride. Smaller bikes, mostly dirt. until day 5, I was so worn out I did a day of slab, then back on easy dirt roads for day 6 and finished strong day 7 with some amazing dirt over mountains and along Sea of Cortez. Shipped bikes back to Tijuana and flew home..... And even caught Carnival in La Paz for a rest day, while giving the bikes time to reach the boarder. I love Mexico and felt safer and more welcome than can be imagined. The people are amazing and always helpful. From finding fuel from neighbors, throwing broken bikes in trucks etc. We hit some rain on day 3 day it was like a slippery snot day... turned into a 14hr day. Most days were 9-10hrs. (180 a day average) I'm going again ASAP.... maybe just a 4-5 day down and back trip. Or drive my truck down with Moto and camp and ride and drive back....
  2. Thank you.... I will. And yes it is too bad to involve the government. I had an idealist mind set of it being a grassroots effort, but maybe it is a bigger problem then I'm imagining. Anyway I love riding down there and I personally dont mind paying to keep it alive. Cheers, Chris
  3. Yeah... bummer but also understandable... Imagine owning 1000 acres and not having a neighbor for miles around and then people just rip right by your house on a motorcycle. The main reason I wanted to do this ride sooner than later was because of this starting to happen more and more down there.... Maybe there needs to be a Baja motorcycle group (like AMA) that could raise money and offer it to these guys to keep the gates open??
  4. Great. Thank you. I will do that Sunday or Monday. Going to ride McCain Valley tomorrow on my KTM350 if anybody's out there...
  5. Hi ya, I signed up and paid for this ride (I THINK I DID) I'm only 55 and my brain is already farting.... not good. I just want to make sure I did sign up. I looked for a confirmation email and cant see it. Is there away to make sure I'm all set as far as registering and paying? Cheers, Chris
  6. Would you consider this a big Bike ride or more for a smaller plated bike like a 350 or 500?? Thanks for putting this event on!! Cheers, Chris
  7. Thank you Dirt Dame. So are the 20 spots first come first serve or can we sign up for them? Looks like a nice place. I've ridden by there many times but have never stopped. Cheers
  8. Haha. Got it and Thank you everyone's for your input. I'll dust off the KLR 650 and ride it proudly. I'm thinking I'll strap on all my camping gear too and make it an adventure ride. In fact how do you sign up for tent camping at Pico Pio? SP? Or do we just show up? Cheers, Chris
  9. Great. Thank you!! I look forward to it. Cheers, Chris
  10. Sorry Roberto.... Just now saw this. I would like to go next time. Going to Ocotillo this Thursday for 4 days so wont make it this Thursday. Cheers, Chris

    Christmas fun 2021

Looks perfect!!! I would have loved to have gone with you. And thank you for keeping this site going and planning the Mountain Dash. When is that ride btw? Cheers
  13. Thank you for the heads up!!! I was planning on the 21st but ... yea, I think I'll hold off. Cheers
  14. That is too bad... I was just looking for info to make sure and sign up. I hope the unforeseen circumstances have been or are overcome with a good outcome. Sending positive thoughts and I'll look forward to a 2023 Desert Dash!!! Cheers, Chris
  15. I guess I need to update my notifications. I missed all this. I can't go anyway.... I don't have a bike. I looked at a KLR 650 two weeks ago, came to an agreement on price, told the guy I'll come back the next day and now the guy has stopped communication.... weird. I keep texting and calling and asking "Hey just tell me if changed your mind?" Silence. OH well. This ride looks fun and I hope you are off having a blast!! There are plenty of bikes out there for sale so I'll be up and running soon. Cheers, Chris
  16. I can't go Friday the 29th but I'd love to do that ride in the New Year....
  17. I cant go.... I have some family commitments. Have fun guys!! Cheers, Chris
  18. I know it might be warm but after this rain the trails will be FUN. I was thinking Tecate to Coyote Cals then home OR another night further down the coast or MSR?? Im open for ideas... The problem for me is I need someone to LEAD .... Ive been 4-5 times, but I dont have tracks in a GPS so I dont feel confident enough to lead. Im on a 500 exc (all tuned and ready) and Im an avearge rider.... Let me know.... cell 619-865-3334 Cheers, Chris
  19. It was a great ride!! I promise to get a little ride report out on this thread, with some pictures, and talk about our route. I just have to deal with a family member passing away so it will be a week.... Cheers, Chris
  20. Not really sure if everyone sees the "quotes" on these forums? BUT the UPDATE news to this trip is we are planning to now leave on FRIDAY the 24th at 7am. Tecate boarder.... Then its still open to discussion, but heading thru Ojos Negros to the coast is my first pick. There is NOTHING like riding on an empty beach, virgin sand with a cool Ocean breeze!!
  21. This could work perfect for you then... We just decided to leave Friday morning at Tecate at 7am.... You could solo home Saturday afternoon. (Or if we are tired go as a group anyway)
  22. Now we are leaving Friday morning at 7am if that helps?? .... you can solo home Saturday afternoon....
  23. GREAT!!!! I cant wait.... I'll know by the end of tomorrow if I can leave FRIDAY.
  24. Depends..... we usually share rooms. Coyote Cals is cheap.... Like $35 for sleeping AND dinner... other places are similar or maybe $40-50. Mikes Sky Rancho is $75 a person no matter what. (dinner and breakfast included) Most expensive stop BUT a must do if you've never been. Plus Beer and fuel.... tacos for lunch. Ummm I think $100 a day is fair. I spend more if there's a fun crowd at the bar.... Ive been hooked ever since the first time I rode 120 miles without seeing anyone except a rancher serving fuel and ice cold beer in the middle... LOVE MEXICO!!!
  25. Sounds like you are already shirking your "tour guide" duties....
