The forge seemed conspicuously absent! Just give me a phone number or email address you're comfortable giving out to potential buyers and I'm happy to post (especially with a forge picture), I'd expect you could clear $1000-1250 pretty easily for the lot and still give somebody a good deal. [Edit: I've taken blacksmithing classes at the Vista Antique Gas and Steam Engine museum, definitely a great bunch over there!]

Absolutely this. The DRZ400 does nothing particularly well, but it will do absolutely anything you ask of it.

I just can't love the CRF250L; 24 horsepower and 318 lbs just isn't a good combination in my book. I'm more willing to accept 28 hp and 295 lbs, but I also have a garage full of blue bikes.

I'm an amateur blacksmith and happy to help. Right now there's a huge surge in interest in the hobby (mostly due to the show Forged in Fire) and any sort of blacksmithing tool is commanding a big price. You are correct that that is a 174 lbs Hay Budden anvil, I suspect you could see somewhere in the neighborhood of $700 for it. The tongs and hammer should be fairly obvious, those tools along the bottom are called Hardys and go into the Hardy hole on the anvil (it looks like there's also a punch or similar in the anvil's pritchel hole that can be removed). I'm in a buy/sell blacksmithing facebook group and would be happy to post these for you if you want to give me contact info to pass along.

Anza-Borrego Explorer / San Diego Trail Map is now California Trail Ma
Wintyfresh posted a topic in GPS Stuff
http://www.californiatrailmap.com/ I bought this product back when it was Anza-Borrego explorer despite being skeptical about the cost; after actually using this map I felt it was money well spent. When I saw he was continuing to update the maps I bought a lifetime subscription, and am thrilled to see he's added Riverside and San Bernardino counties! Just wish I'd had this map for my riding up in Big Bear over the summer! In my experience the routes have always been spot on, this is consistently the best map product I've used. -
Big miles, little tanks. Your favorite way to carry extra fuel off-road?
Wintyfresh replied to 97xr400r's topic in Other
I run a Rotopax on the back of my WR450f. Typically 1 gallon, I can fit a 2 gallon but I'm afraid it might crack the subframe if I'm having too much fun (and it looks like I'm delivering a pizza). -
CRF450L first crash test

Having two rekluse bikes and two traditional bikes, I don't really get how that'd lead to this situation. Stalling the bike cuz you forgot to pull in the clutch? Totally. Whiskey-throttle induced wheelie? Rekluse bike would do the same thing. -
I had M&M do some work for me this year. While overall I was happy with the work, they seemed pretty disorganized and incapable of listening. I'd still go to them for a straightforward job, but wouldn't recommend them for diagnostic work.

Looks like they're reselling a TYT MD-680, looks like you can get the same radio on Amazon for $90. https://smile.amazon.com/Waterproof-Dustproof-Transceiver-Communicate-Motorola/dp/B01KA4SSYK

Anybody got $1.9 million burning a hole in their pocket? Was doing a bit of googling and noticed the Jamul/Otay Lakes MX track is up for sale. https://www.redfin.com/CA/Jamul/13949-Otay-Lakes-Rd-91935/home/146015290 Sadly I'm skeptical the new owners will want to run a track, which if I'm not mistaken will make Fox Raceway (formerly Pala) the last track in the county.

The ubiquity of Starbucks?

This is actually from the 2017 event, but I found it an interesting view, especially in contrast to what you see on TV.

Need a tech guy (remote access communicating/texting)
Wintyfresh replied to simicrintz's topic in Open Discussion
It appears you may be using SendGrid for email to SMS; the trailer's computer sends out an email and SendGrid converts it to a text message. Relevant link below, but you might also contact their support for troubleshooting assistance. https://sendgrid.com/docs/Classroom/Send/How_Emails_Are_Sent/email_to_sms.html -
Can my sidewalk be repaired!!!
Wintyfresh replied to trcooperone's topic in Wheels, Tires, Chains & Sprockets
Agreed, so long as you can keep dirt from getting in between the tire and tube I say run it. -
That's certainly my hope, or maybe we'll see that 6-speed, fuel-injected DRZ 400.

I'm thrilled to see a Japanese manufacturer make a 450 dualsport, but at 289 lbs (wet, admittedly) and just $600 less than a KTM 500 I wonder how much business they'll be taking from the Austrians.

I've been pretty impressed with the Kenda K760 Trakmaster II rear, especially for the price.
-
Yeah, it's the friction modifiers that would worry me. If you're 100% certain it doesn't have them go ahead and run it.

Rotella T4 (Conventional 15w40) and T6 (Synthetic 5w40) are both JASO-MA, but I don't believe the 10w30 is. Assuming your bike has shared gearbox & engine oil I wouldn't risk it.

Look for a 2002+ DRZ400 (unless it's an E), that's when they changed to cartridge forks. 2003 saw an updated ACCT. Other than that it's mostly graphics, not sure if the S saw the same upgrade to 1 1/8" handlebars the SM did.

SoCal Supermoto
Wintyfresh replied to Rexx Riot's topic in Motorcycle Safety, Training & Riding Schools
I haven't done the school in the past year, but have done the track days at Adams alongside the students and it still looks like a blast. If you end up signing up for a class definitely post up here, there are at least a few of us with supermotos who'd head up to the track with you. Since you mention summertime do be aware it gets quite warm in Riverside, at the very least you'll want a cooler full of cold drinks (and maybe to dunk your undershirt in). -
I liked the way the Ogio flight vest distributed the weight, but as others have said it doesn't offer much in the way of ventilation. Bought a Klim backpack and haven't touched my flight vest since.

RobATK posted this in the SoCal Dual Sport Riders FB Group but figured I'd share here. Details: Cahuilla MX on Sunday March 4th @ 9am. Cahuilla Creek MX
