  1. This is a recurring theme. Lets go for a ride, no details on where to meet at. Went on a ride, no details on where you went. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to get out when ever they want or know the areas well enough so posts like this are discouraging to new members on the forum that might want to go places but don't know where or how to get to them. If you want to be just part of your clique then you are certainly managing to meet those expectation, if you want to help grow the site and members you need a different approach. just my .02

    Tech Day October 23rd

Pretty sure we can help on many of those items, bring the wiring stuff with you Jaja is an expert at that stuff and can advise you. Rotors I like EBC, same for the pads they just make good stuff. Sag can be set while you are here and it will give an indication how far off the spring rate is for your weight. What you have to bring depends on the number of questions your want answered correctly.

    SDORC meeting 10/05/21

Ok so there is not one located in Lakeside, is this the place your talking about. Not all of us know the area well enough to differentiate locations that well (at least not me) 11510 Woodside Ave, Santee, CA 92071

    Tech Day October 23rd

Thats a bit of a crap shoot since you wont know what they look like inside till you take them apart and if you dont have everything needed to rebuild your stuck with no rear brake. If you have the piston and all other parts (and bring a large bottle of brake fluid) it is doable but just go into this knowing the potential risk. I can safety wire the rear brake lever so you cant use it is need be. 😃 Or buy a used caliper online and rebuild on the bench then we can install here, if your not comfortable in the rebuild get one and come by we can take care of it ahead of time.

    Tech Day October 23rd

We have a manual tire changing machine on site, and any tool needed from a screwdriver to a plasma cutter, I guarantee there is no tire I cant get off a rim. (Caveat does the rim have to be useable afterwards?) I would tell people to only bring specialized tools like if you have a single sided swing arm might not have the socket size needed for removal. (See plasma comment above)

    Tech Day

Tech Day You are responsible for your own oil etc, disposal can be taken care of onsite, Tires have to be hauled off if you change them out we have no way to dispose of them. You can take them to 8-Ball and they will dispose of them for you for a nominal fee 925 Chardonney Way Escondido 92029
  11. While George is the go to person for all thing suspension this is my understanding. The Air Gap acts like a spring, if you were at sea level and went up to 9K feet that along would increase the pressure the air gap has in the forks. Same with heating them up. I tend to do it when I am riding on trips as I go from sea level to 8K or above and will be staying there for a few day (riding in CO for example). It puts less strain on the seals if you release pressure but how much or is it really significant i don't know. And I am not a good enough rider to notice much of a difference unless the altitude change is very large, then the forks are just a little more harsh due to the higher pressure but that could also be my imagination. Call and talk to George, he will take care of you esp if you need any work done, to say his work transforms the suspension on these bikes is an understatement, and that has been repeated by a number of people I have sent his way as well.

then you should be set, on that bike you deff want to get the wheels balanced. Some placed include balancing when you buy the wheels. 8 Ball is around the corner from the house so you could literally drop it off there and hang out at the tech day if you wanted to as well.

    Tech Day October 23rd

we have the means to change them but not balance them ( I dont have a balancer) and since your riding a lot of street to get to the border I would suggest you have them balanced. If you want taking the wheels off and bringing them over someplace to get them installed is doable on that day if you want. Had you sag etc been all set you with the luggage/weight you plan to carry on the trip if not we can help with that as well assuming the bike has the adjustability for it

    The latest.....

While I cant help out on the tech department I am always happy to host tech or get together days at my place and we have used that as a means of raising donations for the site as well. All work that is provided by myself and others is done free of charge with the expectation that a donation that the person feels is suitable for the work done be made to the site. That said I will be happy to host such a day in Oct if we get word out and people understand its not just a tech day but also a psudo SDAR meeting and such. We have been talking about this for a couple of months but nothing has materialized (by BBQ I mean Ill cook hotdogs ) Also I think if you were to send out a separate email to all of the members explaining the situation and solicit a donation (Include the details of how to in the email) you might find a lot of people would step up. I would since for me the donate button here has been very sketchy for me in the past.
  20. if you install bark busters Rotweiler performance has a very NICE set of mirrors that would be perfect for what you want. Check them out. They are the swivel away ones.

  22. On my ktm 990 having the ABS offroad was a death sentence you could not stop AT ALL. The new stuff maybe better suited to off road since I dont have one to ride off road cant comment on real world experience beyond what happened to me on the 990 back in the day.
