The Forest Service used foam to seal this mine. now that it's deteriorating it seams more dangerous

I believe this is a ventilation shaft for the Lucky Chuck mine

This mine was abandoned with sheet metal and rocks and it seems a lot more stable than foam

  2. I have a 20 ton hydraulic jack that you are welcome to use. It's in Guatay. These things are pretty cheep at Harbor Freight.

I raised my house 4 1/2" with this jack and if I ever do it again I will have at least 2 jacks before I start.

  3. Thanks

So you guy are parking at the entrance and riding into Cross Roads?

If so, that would probably be my plan too. (gotta still confirm with the riding buddy on ETA)

That is the plan... if you arrive late, we'll be back at 4 corners around 9... black DRZ, and blue/white WRF...

I will leave the cul-de-sac just after 8 and see you at 4 corners

  4. After a lot of research and staring at Google Earth till my eyes bled, I took a quick ride out to Noble to try to find the "Tar Paper Shack" . It's an old abandoned gold mining cabin. With my hand sketched tracks in my GPS I took off for a nice little ride and found this...

Cool bridge, I decided not to ride across it

This a deep mine that goes down at a very steep angle... dangerous!

The tailings pile. You can see these in satellite images on Google Earth. A great way to find lost mines

This was a fun little trip and I learned a lot about my GPS and Google Earth.

  5. Bear Valley, Long Valley, Kitchen Creak, Fred Canyon, Thing Valley, Pine Mountain, Deer Park, Pine Creek.

This is a nice loop on hot days because faster speeds give you time to cool down and there is a lot of shade in Mt Laguna.

The Cascade Mine Is the most well known of the Noble Mines since you can ride right up to it.

If you take this loop make sure you add on the Desert Overlook. We skipped the desert view and Pine Mt sense this was supposed to be a 1 hour ride. I had a lot of fun, thanks for posting Brian
