clutch going out, may need a hand
Bakertool13 replied to Bakertool13's topic in Equipment & Technical Forum
Alright cool, i ordered an EBC kit and the gasket, hopefully it gets here by this weekend! -
hey all, the clutch is going out in the dr350 so i cant ride, the shop wants 400 bones to replace it, i saw the clutch itself only runs 80 bucks so i plan on attempting this myself. Would anyone be interested in doing this with me for 50 bucks and a case of beer? I prefer to learn how to do it myself instead of always taking stuff in to get fixed, i will be ordering the clutch in the next week or so. Let me know, thanks for taking the time to read this.

Whats the difference in the two? i checked out the barnett site and it didn't say anything really. Will it just last longer? What else do i need to buy? I dont want to end up missing any gaskets or anything. Thanks for all the help as always! -

Hey guys, my wife has some family in town who want to get somewhere with an awesome view, the first place that came to mind was the top of otay mountain but i have only gone on the DR and dont know if its doable in a car, anyone have experience with this in a passenger sedan or anything? I know when i went on the bike it seemed like mostly blue gravel and didnt look all that difficult. Thanks for the advice!
-
Im talking passenger sedan though, if i had a truck or suv i wouldnt be concerned haha
-
As long as i don't have duty i will stop by, i live like 5 mins from there.

Hey guys, im pretty new to bikes and working on them and ran into a bit of a problem. I have a dr350 with e start, i have been riding it daily for a few months without issue. This morning i go out to head to work and i push the magic button and nothing happens at all, no turning over or anything. The lights turn on and everything, just no power at the e start, any ideas? I changed the spark plug, but thats all i really know how to do. Thanks for your help!

If I wanted to just wire in a new pushbutton straight to the starter relay would that bypass the ignition switch and engine run switch?
-
Well i checked for voltage across the two small leads on the starter relay, no voltage when pushing the start button, im gonna take a break from trouble shooting for today, my ship pulls out for the week tomorrow, theres a case of beer in it for anyone who wants to help me resolve this problem next weekend =)
-
Okay so i shorted out the two bolts on the starter relay and it fired right up, so that means the problem is the start push button or the wiring for the start push button correct? What should the next step be?
-
new battery in with crappy connections haha, the old battery was connected via screws but this new battery just has threadless holes, so i need to find a better way of hooking it up i guess. Im heading to motoworld in 30 mins to see if i can dig anything up since they are right down the street. Once i hook the battery up better i will try shorting out the contacts on the starter relay. I havent done anytghing to the bike, about a week ago i put in a new headlight bulb, but it worked after that. I live off mollison avenue in El cajon
-
Could you explain how to do that a little more in depth?
-
No it didn't look blown, but I changed it anyway
-
Well I changed the fuse, and took the battery to motoworld for a check, they said it was completely dead so I thought I found the problem, hooked up a freshly charged new batt and still nothing...I hate this haha
-
Yeah i went through my normal starting sequence several times, then checked the kickstand switch, its def not something that simple, but the fuse is a definite possibility, ill have to find it tomorrow morning i suppose, i opened up the headlight cowl and found some pretty bad wiring, there are several things unplugged and ziptied away, im not sure what they are for, something previous owner must have done.

Hey guys, i just had my new tires and sprockets put on at cycle parts west, on the ride home i noticed my speedo is only working while im giving it throttle, and falls to 0 as soon as i let off the throttle. Im guessing when taking off the wheels to change the tire he messed up the sensor, not sure where to look and what to do though. I dont feel like riding it back up there unless i really cant fix it, any ideas?

Big Bike ride and camping trip May 5th and 6th
Bakertool13 replied to Firebug24k's topic in 1 to 3 Day Ride Write-Ups, Stories and Photos
looks awesome, i will have to join you guys for the next one! -
Hey all, i will be getting my new tires, sprockets, chain, and hopefully a 4.2 gallon acerbis or clark tank here within the next week or so, i need to find a shop that will do all of the installs. It would be nice if the shop also carried the stuff i need so i dont have to order it to my studio apt haha. Any pointers? Yeah i wish i could try to do it all myself so i could learn how to work on a bike a bit but when i was working on my old isuzu trooper in the parking garage the office freaked out. Thanks as always guys! Oh BTW, i am planning on getting a pirelli MT43 for the rear, not positive on the front yet but probably also a MT43, and i plan on swapping the sprockets to be a little better on the street because i think it is geared really low right now. I pull 5.5k rpms at 50.
-
Hey all, i thought i posted a reply on here yesterday with my phone but i guess it didn't work. I would definitely be down to work on it in someones garage that way i learn and what not. It would most likely have to do be a weekend for me. I work M-F 7-4 usually. As far as the tank Calnub, the cheapest i have seen has been 220 before shipping so that would be greatly appreciated. as far as the tire choice, i have heard alot about the MT43 so i figured it would be good. I need a tire to use mainly on the street, i commute daily on the highways on the knobbies really suck. Still has to be competent for some adventure and dirt riding though. So any tire suggestions would be appreciated. I want to change out my sprockets to be a little more highway friendly as well, i am pushing 5600rpm at 50, seems like i could get the rpms down a bit but what do i know im a noobie. Thanks all.
