  1. Hi everyone my name is Arnie and I have a riding problem. My problem is I am stuck at work typing this and I want to be riding. Anyway I found out about this site from a member, he was talking about dual sport riding and I got the bug again. I have been street only riding for the last few years and decided to get dirty. Been riding for 40 years including plenty of dirt and asphalt (AFM) racing but now I just enjoy the ride. I talked my son (USMC) into a KLR650 instead of a Harley so we are planning a 7 day ride on KLR's when he gets back from his MEU next June. I am looking for a low mile KLR 2000-2007 - he already has his...I keep it warmed up for him List of bikes owned (as best I can remember)...couple I still have 1970 rupp roadster (lost my cherry to this one) 1973 Honda xr75 1970 Rickman Montesa 250 1974 Yamaha YZ 125A 1976 Honda CR 125 1976 Yamaha YZ 125 1981 Maico 250 (sweet ride in it's time) 1983 Yamaha YZ 490 1985 Honda CR 500 1986 Yamaha YZ 490 1986 Suzuki RM 250 1988 Yamaha YZ 250 1985 Kawasaki KLR 600 (oh yeah) 1990 Suzuki DR 350S 1998 Yamaha WR 400F plated (too much fun!) 1950 BSA 500 ZB34 (how did they ride those?) 1978 Harley XLCR 1982 Suzuki GS 450E 1983 Kawasaki GPZ 1100 1985 Harley XR 883 Storz 1999 Harley FXDX 2001 Harley Vrod (Best Japanese bike Harley ever made) Please let me know if you know of any low mileage KLR650's under 3k See you on the trails, Arnie

    Do you have any regrets???

Yeah plenty but this might have been the worst - not grabbing Motorcycle.com, Weather.com, Fishing.com, Porn.com (lol) etc. domain names for pennies when the WWW went public 26 years ago today

  4. If you read Mikey777's post on the World Superbike races at Laguna Seca you'll see that Jake Gagne (born and raised in Ramona) is now riding for Red Bull Honda in this series. This 12 year old just got back from the AMA Amateur Nationals in DuQuoin Illinois where he was crowned the AMA Amateur 250 DTX National champ #1 plate holder. In addition Travis just picked up help from Yamaha under their bLU cRU program. He has 4 more years until he can go pro but competes locally at non-sanctioned races with AMA/AFT pros and wins or podiums on a regular basis riding a 250 while the pros are on 450's. http://www.todayscyclecoverage.com/wordpress/2017/07/09/petton-takes-the-250cc-dtx-title/

  6. So it ain't so! Maybe we will get a WR450R?
  7. I got my boat TIP in Mexico and it made our DMV look like child's play. 3 hours the first day then the final counter/window closed and we had to come back the next day. Luckily we could stay on our boat and enjoyed another night in Ensenada. Turns out I could've done it online before I left, not sure if the bike deal is the same.
  8. From Discover Baja: For Mexican insurance to be valid you must be in compliance with Mexican laws. Since having an FMM is a Mexican law, not having an FMM can invalidate your insurance and land you in jail. I haven't used one on my bike trips passing through Tecate but then again I don't have insurance either (90% of my trips are dirt) I know -I know. Fishing is another matter and always get one if near the Coronado's.

  13. Myself and the usual crew are heading down to watch a buddy Tim May #118 in 50+ bike class and another in a vintage buggie #72 in a 80's Tribute Chenowth DR2 driven by some of Baja's best and oldest drivers lol. Saturday night at Mikes then Sunday night in San Felipe and hopefully time to hit the Chenowth party at the museum south of SF. Calling Goofy Footer to the white courtesy phone!
  14. Holy crap the rally tank fairing combo is $1200!
  15. Back in 1990 while riding my brand new DR350 (first year lol) it wasn't gated and I ended up unknowingly on private property just east of the La Jolla indian rez on Hwy 76. Got a stern lecture from a caretaker of a private hunting club who by the time we were done talking turned out to be a very nice lady. Back then dual sports were not that common and we had many more trails open and some private property owners were cool as long as you closed the gates.
